GoFundMe Was Planning to Steal $10 Million From Canada Freedom Convoy Fundraiser

A GoFundMe campaign meant to raise money for a group of truckers who have stationed themselves in Ottawa to protest Canada’s unethical vaccine mandates and passports nearly had its $10 million stolen by GoFundMe after they decided to label the group’s demonstration an “occupation” and took down their fundraiser, despite the service previously allowing fundraisers for the “autonomous zone” that was made in Seattle.

GoFundMe took down the Freedom Convoy fundraiser (which had accrued as much as $10 million) after being pressured by those who oppose the harmless protest, with them issuing a statement:

They stated that they “now have evidence from law enforcement that the previously peaceful demonstration has become an occupation, with police reports of violence and other unlawful activity.”

In a statement Friday, the company said “Following a review of relevant facts and multiple discussions with local law enforcement and city officials, this fundraiser is now in violation of our Terms of Service (Term 8, which prohibits the promotion of violence and harassment) and has been removed from the platform.”

“Organizers provided a clear distribution plan for the initial $1M that was released earlier this week and confirmed funds would be used only for participants who traveled to Ottawa to participate in a peaceful protest,” the statement continued.

“Given how this situation has evolved, no further funds will be directly distributed to the Freedom Convoy organizers — we will work with organizers to send all remaining funds to credible and established charities verified by GoFundMe.”

As noted in the statement, GoFundMe has chosen to outright steal the $10 million donated to the campaign and it will allegedly be redistributed to their “verified charities”.

GoFundMe later stated they would refund all those who donated to the campaign, however:

Many haven’t forgotten when GoFundMe allowed a fundraiser for a so-called farmer of the actual Marxist occupation that happened in Seattle, which led to the shooting murder of a 16-year-old boy and left a 14-year-old in serious condition (it is said this tweet was made after the murders happened):

It should also be mentioned that the Freedom Convoy was hit with a class-action lawsuit around the same time their fundraiser was shut down.
