Not too sure what progressive and neo-conservative is, but between conservative and liberal, I’d say I lean more towards liberal.
In America, neoconservative is the modern day conservative. Neoconservatives are authoritarians, while classic conservatives are for preserving the Constitution and it’s restriction of power.
Liberal on some issues, conservative on others. I think government should stay out of peoples private lives and bedrooms and be restricted to maintaining a reasonably safe basic living environment (health care, housing, water, sewer,, etc.). Protect country against attack.
I can’t agree with healthcare and housing, Government has involvement with both of those things and all we got get is rising premiums and a housing bubble. Though the rest I am fine with.
I just feel there should be basic food, healthcare and housing if you need it. Some plan that you can avail yourself of if you have no health insurance or can’t afford the $400 a month premiums. Nobody should have to go hungry, sleep in their car or wait until they’re so sick they get sent to the emergency room of the hospital before they get treated.
Lots of folks are falling through the cracks today because of the crappy economy while politicians worry about the next election. seems like nobody cares until it’s them in that situation. We’ve always got plenty of money to bail out banks and big corporations who turn around and give bonuses to incompetents and create business opportunities in China while deleting jobs in the US.
Sorry for the wall of text.
Well the culprit to all our problems is government, so expecting a fix from is impossible. You want a plan that provides entitlements to people in need, but the problem with that is that will suck the life of the economy.
This plan of yours requires a government bureacracy to implement, meaning we will need to expand the size of government, which means higher taxes, the private sector will shrink, and increased public dependency on the government. And sorry to say this, but the country is BROKE. We borrow the money from China and Japan, and the rest is printed by Fed.
And worst of all taxing the rich won’t solve the problem. Because that is what they want you to do. Government is like the Bankers and Corporation’s ATM machine. Every session of Congress, they send a number of lobbyist to to meet the representatives that fund their campaigns.
Why do wars continues? Because the military industrial complex makes tons of money in the lucrative arms industry and companies are fighting for natural resources like oil and metals.
Why is housing so expensive? Because prior to the financial crisis, the government and Fed was propping up the housing market so real estate people like Donald Trump could get wealthy even when more houses are were being build then market demand.
Why is healthcare expensive? It’s because the government sets rules and regulations that effectively drives up the cost of healthcare, There is virtually no competition in healthcare. For example, there is probably cheaper healthcare in North Dakota than in Jersey, but because of regulations, people from New Jersey can’t buy the cheaper insurance. So all you have is a handful of monopolies in your state.
And the most damning thing the government has done is print money to pay for the massive government deficit. Some of it is borrowed from Japan and China, but since these markets are losing faith in the American economy, the burden in placed the Fed, which funds the government by inflating the currency.
You know how the old folks have been talking about how you could buy a ton of stuff for a dollar in the old days? The reason why is cos the US has been deflating it’s currency for 40 years… reducing our spending power. Inflation is one of the major contributors to rising property value, healthcare premiums and food costs.
To desire an entitlement system is wishful thinking, because of government corruption. Social Security and Medicare were created as retirement accounts for Americans when hit a certain age. So as long they paid into it, it should be solvent, but ofc the politicians spend all the money and now are requiring us to pay into the system to fund the current generation, but the younger generation will eventually feel the burn once the aging population increases. Thus, the politicians will only continue to rob the people of their money.
And don’t forget, they write the laws.
So big government is not the solution, the answer is quite the opposite. We could live a society that fulfills the needs of the people with as little state intervention as possible. You just need to study up Free market Austrian economics and people like Peter Schiff.
Well it was mostly a trick question lol. Nowadays they all really mean same thing. What they have all in common, is that authoritarian approach that could lead to tyranny.
