I agree with kazaza. I respect Japan for their resilience to the outside (what they call resilience), but sooner or later they will get lazy like us…….and I sure as hell hope they don’t!!!!

    • I don’t think it will be laziness as much as some sort of sanction or worldwide finger pointing like the whaling controversy. ”If you don’t ban loli’s you can’t play with us!” mentality.

      • I don’t think foreign groups/parties with actual influence have enough active interest in lolicon material in Japan for that. It’s advocacy groups within Japan that are the major driving force in pushing for bans.

        • I’d be really interested in seeing who’s funding the advocacy groups at least in part. I’d be wiling to bet a lot of it is Church and women’s rights groups out of the US. There’s pressure from UNESCO also. Age of consent in Japan was 13 (still is nationally I believe) but most prefectures upped it to 18 which overrides national law.
UNESCO really pushed hard on that one and who funds the majority of UNESCO? The good old USA. ”Follow the money”.

          • I’d imagine foreign funding for Japanese religious/women’s rights etc groups would be fairly minimal, and not given with the express purpose of banning 2D depictions.

I know UNICEF Japan has railed against loli material, but I think individual branches like that are usually run/staffed by citizens of that country, not foreign nationals.

The 2D ban movement (or whatever you may call it) in Japan has certainly drawn ideological support from similar bans in other countries, but I don’t think there’s been much direct/material support from outside Japan.
