The latest despised article to slink its way onto the Internet has come from none other than another supposed video game site turned political, this time with the upcoming Code Vein being disparaged for having “edgy anime designs”.
The short article is a supposed review discussing Code Vein’s closed network test but every now and then subtly bashed the game for having anime designs and an “anime plot”, the site now devolving to the point of simply hating anime-style visuals.
While the article writer insists they had a fun time playing the game, many noticed the instances where they complained about the anime designs, which might have just been some cheap attempt to generate controversy to try and stay relevant:
“Beat-for-beat Dark Souls gameplay and edgy anime designs might seem groan-worthy, but teaming up with other players to defeat difficult bosses was incredibly badass, if a little simplistic at times. Code Vein is, as they say, a land of contrasts.”

I think a lot of people on the internet have deep psychological need to bitch about things. Take Anita Sarkeesian. I don’t agree with anything she has to say about female representation in games, but I don’t think it was worth anyone’s time and effort to dogpile on her and treat her like s♥♥t, regardless of whether or not she deserved it. All that did was draw attention to her and give her larger platforms from which to speak her mind. Had those who disagreed with her simply ignored her, she would have likely remained some nobody toiling away in some forgotten corner of the internet.
