That's not actually the US box art for Hatsune Miku...

The stuff in the article itself is pretty annoying, though.

  5. It's still damn funny, though. Personally, I think the problem is that they're hiring Western artists who dislike Japanese media and art to do the Western versions of the box art, so they try put their own BS spin on it.

Doesn't happen all the time, of course.

  8. I don't universally hate all things American.... but...

I consider American cartoons to be fucking crap.
Unless we are talking major feature films.

Simpsons = crap. I don't care how many Americans like it.

But I have watched a lot of really good animation films.

It makes one wonder, why can't they make cartoons that don't fucking suck.
    Answer = culture.

I generally don't trust anime that is dubbed. I generally won't watch a dub till I have watched the sub first. I've still got scars from Sailor moon season 3.

I don't mind Miku speaking Japanese. I can deal with watching her on video and needing subs to know what she is saying in Japanese.

If they want to use Vocaloid technology to generate English speaking Vocaloids, let them start with actual English speaking singers, and let them make a Vocaloid that is not Japanese to begin with.

I like the Simpsons, they are OK (I'm not American) - but the new episodes...
But shows like Family Guy, American Day, Ren&Stimpy that's quite the crap.
American shows are made for long run = no story, no connection between episodes and the same stuff is repeated...there's nothing that would really move you
But they can quite good copy (better than China) = Avatar :)

  10. I don't see why anyone would be opposed to this. Even if you don't want want to hear english miku songs, it would necessitate new recordings of the core audio samples and updated coding to bring her up to the standard set by Luka and Megpoid.

In short, giving Miku english will make her japanese sound better.

  11. I only want one thing from Miku.

    More :)

I like Miku because she's easy on the eyes (well that concert footage that is).

I want to see more of her. I want to SEE more of her that is. I'm not interested in settling for low grade game graphics.

    TheBlog: http://tania.blog.canalplus.fr/archive/2010/10/25/l-instant-t-du-25-10.html#comments
I read the comments trough google translate and (even some sankaku users responded)...
    they are about the same...
    - they demand her to apologize
    - they question hers journalist capabilities
    - they question hers intelligence
    - how dare she to insult miku, fans, japanese
    - that now people hate France even more
    - why did she use popipo instead of one of the good songs
    ...

  15. An english Miku, why have I just heard about this? I'm not sure what to think of it; I prefer listening to Miku in Japanese, but I have also seen them english songs (e.g. 500 miles) and thought it would be pretty cool if she didn't have the accent. So I guess i'll be looking out for more about this.

  20. Just found this today: http://hive45.com/shows/episode-36-music-entertainment-futures
They start talking about Miku at 14:10 and she sets the topic for the rest of the video, which was really interesting to listen to.

In other news, her facebook page broke 30k a few hours ago.
Singularity Hub also made another post about her, and it's spreading her around even more.

And maybe the most interesting bit, a new Hungarian TV show, that airs right during prime-time, uses Mikus voice in it.
    You can hear Miku here:

    At 0:13
    At 3:47

Snipe edit: It appears Los Angeles Times just wrote about Miku. Let's see if this goes to print.
