actually no. because bruce lee knew Dim Mak and could kill with 1 hit. go research a bit more

First off i sense classic fanboy.

Second i will admit he was very good especially by modern standards so much so that 200 years may have been pushing it. But i still say if you put him up against a martial artist from the days of martial arts being used for actual combat then no he wouldn't. We're talking a hardened warrior here against a man from a post martial arts for combat fighter. There would be no comparison. It's simple logic that if he were fighting a man with more combat experience and who had survived life or death situations countless times by using his martial arts someone from the modern world wouldn't stand a chance. Regardless of how skilled they are. Afterall the types of skills that are taught now are nothing compared to the past and while he may ahve been taught a true combat form without someone of equal or greater skill to fight or even spar against he wouldn't stand a chance against someone who has been fighting against warriors for most of his life It's a simple matter of being born in the wrong time.

  3. Ranged. Designated marksman baby.

Don't bring a knife to a gun fight. Shotgun beats sword, all my Bulltrue medals say so.

What kind of an idiot would use a knif in a prearranged fight anyways. I'd take an axe easy to get nice properties as a weapon and decent range though a sledge hammer would work as well. But in general only an idiot would bring a knife. Though the speed advanatge could be more useful if we're talking about a prearranged area that has size limitations on the fighting space. Really though the type of weapon would vary on the environment of the battle.

  8. M95 Sniper rifle.

I try to find games that have that wepon when looking for new games to buy, there is some sort of self satisfaction when you pick off enemies from hundreds of meters away while they are none the wiser on where you are.

sure there are people that think that i'm a coward for not getting up close with the enemy... but i'm the one that still alive while they are laying on the ground.

Besides better to die with honor than reduce yourself to such a weapon in my mind.

Yeah, that's a matter of opinion. Don't think honor would do much for ya when you're dead though.

And, I just thought of this funny scenario of someone charging at an enemy base with a sword but quickly getting shot down. And with his last breath he says "At least... I died with honor" and someone replies "No, you died a fool".

  11. Nothing beats having a sword in an FPS.
It's just really satisfying to cut someone down, who's using some guns against you.

  12. Melee: No need for reloads.

Some games have restrictions like having to track down ammo reloads or having a limit on ammo per game set/stage.
Still since its only a game, having infinite ammo will do better than a cat.

  13. If the game allows it, I always choose dual wield swords as my first option. It's just what I find to be the coolest.

For pussies? Maybe. But all those years perfecting said art form would be a waste if that person when up against an experienced gun user. I'd imagine it would look something like this.

    whats that from?

Agreed DW is win. Though i prefer to DW 2H weapons nothing says badass like mowing down enemies with 2 2h axes or swords. Actually even in rl i practice with 2 swords dw is my specialty. Oh i shoulod add i practice with those wooden training swords you know the really hard ones modeled on katana so bastard sword legnth.

  17. Personally I like ranged weapons... More specificly bows.... Just something about sniping someone with nothing but your own eyes and a wood/bone/iron arrows is too pro...

In every game I choose bowmens over everything else...(that includes gunners)
But as a second weapon i'd preffer a sword...just in case he gets too close... Or a shotgun... What ever I get my hands on~

Oooh, I have one of those in my car. Now to put a scope on it, for precision... crowbarring...?

I'm not surprised this thread almost turned into a fanboy fest. People will always be eager to say swords are more honourable or whatever.

But you know what? Soldiers (i.e. people who do actual fighting) have been using guns for many years because they're simply more effective. The only reason one would think they could outrun/dodge a gun/bullet is because they've been watching too much anime.

The sword has got to be the most overly romanticized weapon ever. In reality, it was hardly ever used in war, since the spears (later on pikes), and bows were so much more effective. Even samurai hardly ever used them in actual war, except for decapitating an enemy officer after he'd been defeated.

And Bruce Lee as the greatest fighter of all time? LOL~ In terms of actual, off-screen fighting, he's been likened to an amateur kickboxer in level. Of course, fanboys have overhyped him for many years anyway, despite him only being a motivated action star.

Are you more of a man for using a sword and charging at a dude with a gun? No, but it does make you stupid. There's nothing inherently honourable about using one weapon or another, and I'd question your sense of 'honour and duty' if you thought that there was.

Honour is about a sense of values, not about handicapping yourself in a battle.

People who say that those who use guns are weak are the weak ones themselves, seeking some kind of passive-aggressive revenge on those stronger than them.

There are certain, very specific situations in combat where a knife becomes more useful than even a sidearm, which is why many soldiers also carry combat knives, as well. But a full-length sword would prove terribly impractical in these situations. It would also prove ineffective in any situation when compared with a soldier carrying a rifle, sidearm, and knife.

Long-range: Rifle, and sidearm beat sword.
Medium-range: Rifle (depends on exact distance), and sidearm beat sword
    Close-range: Sidearm beats sword.
Extreme-close-range: Knife beats sword. Sidearm would depend on the exact situation.

    [Warhammer-40K]
But chainsaw bayonets? Those are wonderfully practical.
    [/Warhammer-40K]

As a quick example to tie this back to games (part of the OP), take the case of tier lists in fighting games. If you were to play a lower-tier character (say, Tager or Ganondorf) against an opponent who played a higher-tier character (say, Litchi or Metaknight), does that make you more 'honourable'? Obviously, no.
