Image of Otaku?

I would ask for source on this point... but it's a bit too early in the day to flip on my rage switch >_>

If true, seriously, wow. I've often wondered why we *never* see the "bad guy" win in traditional good guy vs. bad guy comics... and it's just so predictable any time a character has a drug habit, or weird fetish, or anything associatable with "evil", they have to be depicted as cowardly completely amoral jerks.

Doujinshi? Not the case, obviously (´ー`)y-~~

As someone whose met no small amount of "bad guys" IRL, that sort of misrepresentation has always been a pet peeve...

  2. Well most manga/anime otakus are not fat (at least not in Nippon) nor are they middle-aged. Usually male on their 20s or 30s, thin, dressed in plain clothes with non-colored messy medium long hair and glasses. Seem to be employed seeing all the stuff they can afford.

I fill barely any of these criteria and yet I would say I'm an otaku.

So there you have it. We can look like anything, it's not our outside that makes us who we are.

That was around the whole comic book scare around the 50's, they made up an entire code that comics had to follow.

  5. I take being called an otaku as a complement. I'm a proud lolicon, I fap to doujin 3 times a day (part of my summer challenge) and do basically everything archer mentioned/

A screencap I just snapped from the "beach" episode 15 of Toaru Majutsu no Index. Haven't finished the episode yet, but saw this just now and thought it deserved a spot here.

About damn time I saw the show, so good (‐^▽^‐)

  8. From the grave I summon you back!

    Necro'd!

Gantz. Good anime, great manga. I stopped reading it when the creator decided to go on a "Hiatus" but found it an extremely good read and can't wait to read the rest now that *SPOILER* Kurono is back *END SPOILER*

You're right though too, anime is a lot more fun to watch than normal TV shows BECAUSE they push the boundaries a little. Granted I think that Kodomo No Jikan and the like are sick and perverse, It's amazing how much an animator is allowed to get away with just because it's lines and colour.

Anyway for my otaku story it goes like this.

Started watching Dragonball Z at a very young age and actually watched Dragonball/Z/GT all the way through (Every single episode) and I thought they were cartoons too... after googleing Dragonball Z I came across the word "Anime" and then found a little show called "Love Hina" after that it blossomed into a beautiful relationship between me, my PC screen and the many Pizza's I ordered. I can't truly call myself a true Otaku because I don't buy figures/anime/songs etc etc. I'm more of a Hikkikamori.

Kodomo no Jikan is not sick granted it is a little perverse but not sick its a very educational anime. Teaches kids about growing up...

  10. Anyone who thought Kodomo No Jikan was sick and perverse
obviously did not pay attention to the fucking storyline.

I hate when fans target the perverse before even trying to figure
out what the storyline will be like. The perverse in Kodomo No Jikan
was just extra entertainment. Kodomo No Jikan would have been a great
    Anime anyway without said perverse.

I barely pay attention to the ecchi moments whenever I read the manga xD

But sadly, I don't think it would have been as popular if they didn't push the loli factor. :(

  13. Kodomo no Jikan is rather quite an interesting anime. If you find it to be sick/perverse, then I would say you have some trouble discerning between similar situations in reality and in anime.

Yes, it's true there are some questionable moments in both the anime and the manga. However, the series is more story and plot based. It is purely exploring the psyches of the characters. Of both a child who was traumatized during her childhood and grown up without much restraints, allowing her to understand the adult world to a way further extent than what an elementary school student should. And then, of an adult, who has no love experience whatsoever and is somewhat shaken by the character of the previously mentioned child.

To think of this as a sexual relationship between a teacher and his student would be extremely inappropriate and would be perverted on your part.

The only perverse element of the whole series would be Reiji. He is the only portion of the series which I have been extremely troubled by. The antics of Rin are rather just her way of expressing herself, and controversially, her methods are somewhat sexually suggestive. That does not, however, mean that there is a sexual relationship between any minor and an adult in the series (though Reiji is getting quite close to crossing the line... would like to kill that damn bastard).

  14. Rin does not understand what sex is, and the teacher has no intention of actually fucking her. I thought this was obvious, Rins nature comes from the fact that her gardian is a fucking weirdo, and it's probably the only way she knows how to reach out to an adult, because her home situation is clearly very wrong.

Also, perverse? Don't make me laugh. In what world is lolipantsu perverse?
It's not like lolipantsu is uncommon, even in the real world.....
Roundshell is perverse, kodomo no jikan is just some innocent laughs....

Blarg, I just got up, and I'm not really sure what I'm saying.
    Automatic writing ftw.

There are things called scanlations and fan subs.

Also, if your rich, get imported goods.

Get an external HD, save your files there and it's
    like also having a copy.

I'd like a copy that I could place on my book shelf along with the rest of my meager collection and that I could leaf through when I'm bored.
