After 13 years, Golden Boy 2 takes job-hopping Kintarō to entertainment world. This year's 19th issue of Shueisha's Business Jump magazine has announced on Wednesday that Tatsuya Egawa is reviving his Golden Boy comedy manga after 13 years in a new series that launches on September 15. In Golden Boy 2 ~ Sasurai no O-Benkyō Yarō: Geinō-kai Ōabare-hen, the wandering protagonist Kintarō Oe now takes on the entertainment world for his next job(s).
The original Golden Boy manga ran in Shueisha's Super Jump magazine from 1992 to 1997, and Shueisha published 4.6 million copies of the compiled manga volumes. The story followed Kintarō as he hopped from one town to another as a lifetime student. The manga inspired a 1995-1996 video anime series from director Hiroyuki Kitakubo and character designer Toshihiro Kawamoto.
In the same Business Jump issue that will launch Golden Boy 2 with a 37-page chapter, Boku, Otaryman. creator Yoshitani is launching a new real-life essay manga series called Two Outs kara no Healthcare.
I was upset when the manga was never continued and was left in hiatus. With Kintaro making a return, I'm definitely looking forward to this manga. I do question however If the author still wants to continue with the story or maybe lean to new direction while in those 13 years of this manga's disappearance.
