Best anime/game OSTs

  1. Lately I've found myself surfing the net for all kinds of soundtracks for anime, games and that kind of stuff. Often something my friends have mentioned or go through soundtracks for games I've played in the past just to reminiscence. Perhaps to look for some nice tunes I might've missed while blowing up aliens, mechs, zombies and what not.

In my opinion the music in Japanese anime and games in particular is rather underrated. Yeah sure it's mostly generic or ambient techno themes, but who says ambient themes have to be bad?

Once in a while I might hear something good while playing, get recommendations etc. But you can't really cover much ground this way and so here I am.

Give us your favourite OST(s) that come to mind. Some background info, personal opinions or hell, a link can't hurt either. I'll go first:

Zone of the Enders & Zone of the Enders - The Second Runner: Talk about fitting atmosphere here. In fact it's in my opinion the most fitting since Diablo 2. If any of you guys have played D2 you know the level of atmosphere I'm talking about here. It has a slight resemblance to MGS2 soundtrack and much like it, has a very unique style and the unique OST just about perfects it.

  2. I'm a whore for anything Tenmon. That includes the rest of Shinkai's works and Ef.

  3. Ah, either Mushi-shi's soundtrack, or Natsume Yujincho's soundtrack...I can't choose.

The music in Mushi Shi was very atmospheric. It's one of those shows where I just put in the DVD and relax. I'm grateful that I got the boxset for free from a friend, otherwise I would have never watched it.

  5. In that regard, Flower also had that effect. Though it doesn't really stand on its own, but with the game, its amazing.

  6. I also enjoyed the music from .hack//Sign. Gave a great feeling for the series, plus I loved how the DVDs had the option to play the show with music only, taking out the voices and sound effects. Once in awhile I'll throw that in a DVD player and start reading something. I really appreciate the series now instead of back when I first watched it.

Oh, and can't forget Aria. The music breathed a lot of life into the series.

  7. AGAIN seriously we already had a topic like this. Try asking somewhere before assuming these things haven't been made.

Yeah maybe not to you but you try spendingover an hour on finding vids to post and then someone just posts a whole new topis hell total it was probably over 3 hours. Just cause you're new dosn't mean you can't seach or ask around.

Ahh, I totally agree with this. See-Saw's music was excellent. It indeed gave a huge atmosphere to the series.

Hmm, while I don't like the show much, the OST of Mitsudomoe sounds very good. Does anyone know when it'll be released?

    YES!

I always play this song when I'm depressed or don't want to do anything. Then I get more depressed and lay down in my bed, staring up at the ceiling thinking how much my life has been meaningless up to now. It's great when I go on a walk around my old jr. high and elementary school during the middle of the night, with a full moon high up in the sky, a circle of clouds floating around it.
