Large figure collections are okay if your'e willing to put up the space and money for them. But I see some collect so much that it's like they are hoarding rather than selectively collecting them. If I see a figure I like, It is of quality with a good level of detail. There are just too many figures out there that go for a lot yet look plain as pebbles that just don't seem worth it.

I guess, I am glad/lucky to be in a unique situation concerning collecting, as I don't have to worry about - "as much" - anymore, as the rest (here) have to on daily basis.
No work, no school, I have a steady income, no rent/mortgage (land/house is my own), no real outstanding bills, car is paid for, other than the usual (needed) utilities, Sat, and those are low anyway, so I am in a good position.
However ~ collecting is just a hobby and like most hobbies(one) needs to maintain it from time to time by making wise decisions concerning it.

I've been collecting figurines of all kinds since about four years ago, but my biggest issue has been my garnering of interests in older series that wouldn't exactly be getting new figure releases unless it was a coinciding anniversary of sorts for the franchise. Even then, what new anime I am into doesn't quite get the quality figurine releases others get. To add even more to this, I feel iffy buying figurines online because I feel like I need to inspect the box before I buy it. So, because of this, my collection is quite small and I enjoy it like that. It's become almost a personal affair I have with each figurine, waiting a few months to a year to buy a new one so I can reap enjoyment out of it.
The individuals who list off the large number of figurines they bought each month are either one of two things; shallow or compensating. It should be a treat, something to top off a notable achievement you made, rather than an impulsive buy to feel accomplished.

W-w-well, we're not all like that. I like to keep up with the figure market. It's not my fault if something I want comes out every few months.Posted 5 years ago # -

:) If your collection looks like the New York Subway during the peak hours, you miiiiight want to consider either A being more choosy or B getting a large place to live. I mean, if you can afford all the figures, chances are you can afford a decent place for them.
THINK OF THE FIGURES !! :)

Figurine collecting shouldn't be ruling your wallet to the point where you're blaming other people for your impulsive spending.
