A peeping tom hacked the webcams of at least 150 schoolgirls in Germany.

When police arrested the man several videos of various childrens rooms were on the computer screen, wrote the "Westfalen-Blatt" in Bielefeld on Friday. The prosecution in Aachen confirmed the investigation, but not the number of victims.
Thomas Floß of the Professional Association of Data Protection in Germany (BvD) discovered the attack. The electrical engineer holds regular lectures in schools, to sensitize children and adolescents to privacy. "Two girls told me that the indicator light on their webcams were always on," said Floß of the German Press Agency.
When the expert examined the computers he discovered malicious code - trojans - which controlled the cameras. The culprit appears to have spread the software through the instant messaging service ICQ. First he cracked the user account of a student, then he sent a picture using his address. Whoever opened it, had the Trojans on the computer, said Floß. Floß was able to trace the attack to the region of Aachen and called the police.
The Public Prosecutor of Aachen is currently investigating. "A person is suspected of illegally spying on computers with malicious software and webcam tampering," said a spokesman. The "Westfalen-Blatt" reported that 150 girls were affected, including 60 students from the district of Gütersloh.
