Repercussions of EqualityNow's actions.

  1. http://news.tbs.co.jp/newseye/tbs_newseye4143799.html

    May 28, Tokyo
Due to recent protest against "Rapelay" in the Parliament of UK ,
EOCS or Ethics Organization of Computer Software in Tokyo
is going to ban all hardcore hentai games. About 200 software publishers
will give up making and selling such.

Sad news for otakus, nipponjin and gaijin alike.
    Someone please post this.
[Also i registered because apparently the forums keep treating me like a bot even though i answered the question correctly.]

We thank you for your interest in our softwares and sending many e-mails.
Unfortunately, under the company's regulation, our softwares are only available for domestic customers over 18 and not for sale in foreign countries.
Warranty and official support apply to the softwares purchased and performed in Japan,
and do not apply to those outside Japan
We hope you have an opportunity to purchase and perform our softwares in Japan.

    Warmest Regards,

    Representative of ILLUSION

Surprisingly, news found on Yotsuba chan, and on that matter someone please confirm this, someone who can read Jap. It's Yotsuba after all, and for all we know anon might just be trolling.

  2. When Saudi Arabia demands that the UK and US bans pornography, due to the fact that it gets into Saudi Arabia via the internet, and we laugh at them and tell them to go away...

  3. [Well chums, there is always the internets.

    [EDIT]
This seriously has to be bogus, Japan would not cave into what people say in the UK. Also this sort of news would be big. It has to be a troll.

    A ban seems very unlikely...

  4. They better fucking not or I'm going to go over there and smack them upside their heads, both EOCS and EN. What the fuck will I do without my Raidy and such?

Way to ruin it for the rest of us forever. This goes against every moral fiber in my body. Fuck, I hate censorship.

  8. If it's really true... I can see a bunch of malnourished shut-ins, braving the sunlight to go out and protest and throw up barricades in Akihabara. Fight for you porn!

  10. This is just the ethics organization banning rape games from being developed or sold. Devs could quit the organization or do direct downloads.
However, this would affect retailers and there would be fewer games in the stores.

Reminds me of the US film industry self-regulation back in the early 20th century. That eventually blew over, of course, but it took a while.

I'm just wondering how far they're going to take this regulation. A lot of the arguments being made by international organizations in support of these bans could just as easily be leveled against literature that's been banned in the past. It's not enough to say that the material being affected has no literary value, because some of it arguably does. Saya no Uta has a rape scene in it - is it going to be banned from sale now?

  12. Wtf are they kidding?
Do they know how many people will lose their jobs from that?
And it's recession all over the world now.
And even for a stupid cause, all results from this will come out bad.
Where is the drawn or written fiction doesn't really hurt anyone. And it is called one of the lifes greatest gifts to tell your storys.

  17. Lets start a petition! It's not much, but it at least shows there are people who care.

http://www.petitiononline.com is the easiest place to do it.

But I think this should be properly organized and be bilingual. Artefact, thats your cue!
