    Normally, if you're just on a sightseeing trip for less than 90 days, nationals of most countries need not do anything in advance other than declare your intention as "sightseeing" once you arrive in Japan.

    However, I was curious and looked it up, and it seems the Japanese embassy in Malaysia recommends getting one in advance, because of all your countrymen emigrating illegally to Japan:

    I'd do it at least a week in advance to be safe, even though it seems like you'd still be able to get a visa in the normal way upon arrival.

    Actually this plan will most likely be delayed as my friend just lost his job :( I'm still keeping the info I compiled though - I'm determined to make it to the land of the kami and our tsundere Lady of Sancom in this lifetime.

    good luck getting the info, i've always wanted to go there if possible.

    hopefully the exchange rates not so high when the time comes, my friend said he experienced the most expensive can of cola over there.
