I guess this goes in here.Why do people jack off to anime porn when their is real porn to jack off to. Some of the anime girls on this website look like little girls. How can adults like little girls(assuming mostly everyone here are an adults)?No offense but don't you think that is weird? Because a lot of people in real porn are ugly and/or faking it. You also can't do a lot of fetishes in real porn without getting in trouble or nobody buying it because it's too niche. And then what about the poor futanaris?
Hentai is much nicer in all these aspects.

As far as I'm concerned, it's because it's because live porn is boring... at least the bangbros format and everyone that seems to copy it, e.g. talk to some average looking girl, take her to a non-descript room and have sex in about 6 different positions for 40minutes. After watching this kind of crap for 7+ years, it's not interesting, at least not unless I take a decent break from wanking.
Hentai in general has more intriguing setup. Even if it's just plain sex in a hentai- the circumstances are more intriguing than "some chick just got payed $600 to get rammed for an hour on camera by a guy with an abnormal stamina."
Note that I do realize that there is live action porn that's more involved than your standard amateurs website... but that's kind of a pain to find unless you actually buy it... and what I have seen is rather fail.
With that said- if you're curious as to what hentai is good (you did ask what you were missing), I would recommend one of the following to get started:

CleavageAll of which are just normal sex in somewhat plausible situations (pretty much no porn is ever going to be really plausible) and the girls are obviously enjoying the sex. There is one other factor that comes into play- and that's people want to imagine sex with girls that they already like. This is why nude scenes and nipple slips (and the related) of hollywood actresses are so popular, even thoguh the women in question aren't that much better looking than porno actresses. The same applies to anime and is why over half of fan artwork for anime is erotic.

Also, it's easier to find well-drawn images than porn with good models, good lighting, and good photography. Most of the cheap stuff looks rather cheap.
Being "erotic" or not is decidedly subjective and is, like any form of arousal or pleasure, primarily mental in nature. While a lot of the reactions to porn are fairly well hardcoded and instinctive, there's a degree of higher function involved as well. One not even create a work involving explicit sex to be erotic -- in fact, less explicit works may be more so as they engage the mind more! Just some written works, for example, can actually be quite stimulating -- I recall pretty much all of /a/ waiting impatiently for one contributor to complete an adult K-On! fanfiction.
Erotic depictions existed well before the age of photography (in fact some of the earliest cave paintings known would appear to be so), so it's hardly something new, and it's not necessarily the case that it only existed then because film did not. Images are also potentially easier to produce (though not necessarily) so that more interesting things can be done in them, and a lot more of them can be made. Certainly it's very situation-dependent, but you're not likely to see much 3D futanari, for example.
