Didn't know what to feel about that one. It wasn't bad, per say, but it definitely wasn't good...
And to why they dub songs: Why do they dub in the first place? So people can understand what they're saying without subtitles.

Well I'll admit she isn't that ugly but she does look horrible as Yuki.

Not all dubbed songs have literal translations though.
A few years ago I was reading translations for some of the songs from Tenchi Muyo (they were some of the songs that received english versions for the dub) and the lyrics were very different from the dub versions' lyrics (though the dub versions were still very good and I would even consider some to be better). Another anime song (that I can think of off the top of my head) that received an english version with completely different lyrics is the song from the 6th pokemon movie (called "Chiisaki Mono" in the original and "Make a Wish" in the dub). The english lyrics were completely different from what the japanese version had and instead of dubbing the entire song they dubbed the first verse, left the second verse in japanese, and then combined english vocals with the original vocals at the end (IMO it turned out rather nice and I have a hard time deciding which version I like more).
Even though dubbing companies have been doing more literal translations in recent years, I wouldn't consider many of those songs to be good. A lot of Funi's recent dub songs (which I mentioned earlier in this thread) have literal translations but the lyrics just have an awkward flow when being sung. I was especially displeased with their dub of "Love Sensation", the third(?) ED of Negima!? (and also one of my favorite Negima songs).
And then there are dub songs done right like "Freckles", the english version of Rurouni Kenshin's first OP "Sobakuso" (which I mentioned earlier that I love). This song has the most accurate dub that I've ever heard. The dub lyrics are pretty much a literal translation of the original lyrics. Even the dub singer sounds similar to the original singer (something which doesn't seem to happen very often). IMO the only thing they did wrong when dubbing this song was that they never did a full version. Other than this song, I can't think of any other literally translated dub song that can be compared to the original in quality.

Christina Vee is HARUHI!!! and she's also the voice of the English vers. of Louisa from "Familiar of Zero". See, she is here singing the opening to Season 2.
