I got a job offer

  1. Not to offend but the Japanese outlook on the future just seems so depressing.

I may get pissed at my country but at least the name of you high school is of no importance and you can still make it even if you go to a state college.
One also is free to reinvent themselves at any point in their life.

Stability in having a job for life is generally not expected in the US in fact people will sometimes change their career later in life on purpose.

Still having my dreams is what has kept me from going nuts at some points in my life.

The answer is "stability". You get into a "good" company so you can stay there and retire from that company some dozens of years later. The pay may not be great, but the rationale is that bigger companies have a more solid business and will be less likely to fire you. So

    1. You get into a huge company
    2. 5 years later, you can afford getting married
    3. A few years later, you can afford getting a kid
    4. ...
    5. Profit!

That is what Touma, Keitaro and many others were dreaming of.

I can actually vouch for this.

    Well, good luck.
