Finally EoE is explained! (spoilers)

  1. I came across this post in Urbandictionary which explained freaking everything:

    Ayanami

A female character in the controversial anime series "Neon Genesis Evangelion". She has light blue hair and red eyes even though her most hated color is the color red because it is te color of blood. She rarely displays any emotion during the length of the anime series. Rei Ayanmi was created in the Chamber of Gauf by combining the DNA of Shinji Ikari's mother( Yui Ikari) and the second angel Lilith. There are many Ayanamis down in the Chamber of Gauf and they are all empty vessels to which a soul must be transferred to them to make them whole. She unites with Lilith in the End of Evangelion in order to initiate the Third Impact or the Human Instrumentality Project. She has a small amount of genetic makeup from Yui Ikari so therefore is Shinji Ikari's "relative". She ultimately dies during The End of Evangelion because Shinji Ikari rejected her gift of the Third Impact.
Rei Ayanami is one of the most interesting and complex characters in the anime series:"Neon Genesis Evangelion".

But can someone please explain the Human Instrumentality Project?

How does killing everyone equal making humans perfect?

  6. Instrumentality was supposed to return all humans to one being, a god if you will.

  7. Actually, Human Instrumentality Project had nothing to do with killing everyone.

If you pay attention to the movie, you'll see that Seele's intention is to turn every human into a god. Shinji being gay and wishing a world where all people was one, without barriers, and ideally incapable of hurting each other was something they did not foresee. And seeing how 'everyone being one and the same' didn't really work, he wishes for everyone to die (except Asuka, for whom he has a crush).

In the series' ending, things are a bit different.

In there, you see how Shinji overcomes his fears and shit, and he becomes 'complete'; in other words, perfect, since he won't have to deal with life anymore, now that he's done with his issues.

I don't understand. How was Seele going to turn everyone into a god? By killing Angels?

Ok....so the Third Impact was Shinji's doing? Or was it planned by Seele? And I read somewhere that since Shinji rejected Third Impact, humanity didn't return to Lilith, and everyone was going to eventually come back to life from the sea of LCL, Asuka being first. Not that Shinji wished for everyone's death.

The sea in which you speech of is what is believed to be the sludge that forms life(in theory).I understood it as they wanted to revert all humans to that instituting perfect harmony.

  10. Instrumentality was triggered by third impact. Seele's plan requires the Lance and the Eva series. Gendo started his own plan by using Adam (in embryo form) fused to his hand to merge with Lilith (Rei) so he could reunite with Yui.
Rei, now with feelings for Shinji, decided she is not Gendo's doll and puts the choice of instrumentality in Shinji's hands. He rejects it, with only him and Asuka (thanks to Rei) reconstituted.

  11. Wait wait wait...then why don't Shinji and Asuka keep their memories of this mindfuck? And how freaking long did it take for everything to get rebuilt? At least a couple of years, surely?

Also TvTropes lists it as an Alternate Continuation.

And I read somewhere that since Shinji rejected Third Impact, humanity didn't return to Lilith, and everyone was going to eventually come back to life from the sea of LCL, Asuka being first. Not that Shinji wished for everyone's death.

    Seele's plan was like this:

1.- Get the Lance of Longinus.
Yes, they 'have' the Lance, but it's buried deep inside Nerv Headquarters.
2.- Get the Eva series completed.
They are a vital part for the completion of the third impact.
3.- Recover Lance of Longinus and Lilith.
In theory, they already had Adam's embryo.

So far everything was according to plan, they sent Kaworu to recover these items.

4.- Force the third impact, and decide for humans to become gods.
    5.- Win.

The two failures in their plan were:

    a) Kaworu did not recover the Lance, nor Lilith.

    b) Gendou betrayed them, and selfishly started the third impact on his own. His wish was to be with Yui once again, but it was not fulfilled since Rei chose to be with Shinji, effectively giving him the 'right' to decide on mankind's fate.
