huh? I get epic dwarven music constantly with the Mayday graphic set(of course I can't use the newest version this way, but for the purpose of learning the game it doesn't really bother me not to be able to use the newer, more complex version.

  3. I began building a great tower rising out of a steaming jungle and extending down deep into the earth, only to break into a series of gigantic cavern complexes, and be swarmed by troglodytes. Fortunately they were torn to shreds by war dogs.

If anything the caverns are a little too extensive - I was hoping to build an expansive fortress in that spot.

  4. I don't think my computer is good enough for this game ;_; I've got about 100 fps at game-start with the older version, but in the newer version I've got less than 30 fps at the START of a 1 tile game...

  5. The main code is being merged with an OpenGL port of the game's graphical engine - the next version should be dramatically faster.

  6. I just read the entire story of boatmurdered in one sitting. All I have to say is: God that's interesting!

  7. My noble fortress, 'manlances' is going strong. Wish all the damn immigrants would stop coming, and I'm really dreading those damn nobles >_> maybe I'll purposefully keep my fortress value low so they won't come... I killed all the foxes and deer on my map, then it got infested with wolves, killing my best hunter. My other hunter got knocked unconscious for several months, during which time his lover gave up on him. Such fun.

  8. No goblins yet? >.> Wait till those raiding parties come in force, you'll have lots of fun with traps.
