     Yes i think that is the best way to become one what people do not understand is that it will be very hard for people outside japan if you don't show your work at least at some events im 15(please exscuse my age) and when ever i go to a con(ive really only been to 3) i always hand out free self published things with my website page on it(though its under construction)and you have to put more than just the minimal effort right now me and friends are working on some free visual novels(cuz free is the best price)one on yuri and the other on BL so that my
     my abilities can be shown.and if i may ask what genre are you trying to get into(i myself want to try drawing everything but my speciallty is romance).and are you in it for the money because if so i think you should quit ive been practicing staying up late drawing so i can get the hang of it because this is what i wanted to do all my life since i was 6 years old if you are in it for any other reason than love for the feild of art then im telling you now you will fail..bad.(is this too many words cause i forgot the conversation)well bye bye.
