can't really compare 2 completely different fanbases
still, even if I'm #1 in america, it will still be impossible to reach #1 in Japan just cuz it's from an american writer
I wasn't referring to fanbases. But on that part, you might want to look into Piro (Fred) from Megatokyo.com. He's already selling comics in America and has started selling his books in Japan through Kodansha.
Something like that isn't easy to pull off, however.
Either way, trying to break into the Japanese manga industry is not an easy task. You'll need to practice. A LOT. There's a very high standard of skill upheld there, so getting better would be a top priority, as well as speaking Japanese.
Also, even if you are Asian, unless you're Japanese, you still have a racial barrier to break through. Though, it'll be somewhat easier.

and to everyone else who has helped me, thank you for taking me seriously and offering a helping hand. This has boosted my progress so much more than I could have hoped in a single night
CJ Michalski is a caucasian (or at least that's what she says) artist that's quite popular in the Japanese BL industry. I don't know if you're into that genre though.
After you move to Japan you should start/join a doujin circle. Selling good doujinshi at cons could really help your reputation.

about doujin circles, when I googled it I got CLAMP (the ones who did xxHolic, Chobits, angelic layer, Tsubasa and a bunch I haven't heard of). Is CLAMP considered one of the doujin circles ur talking about?
thanks for the suggestion
I believe they started as one.
you should read the manga "Bakuman". its about two high schoolers who try to make a popular manga in jump. its really interesting and i have learned a lot about jump and manga from it. its from both the artist and the author of death note.

yep im on the latest chapters right now, great manga :)
love the art, but I was very surprised when I saw it was the same author as deathnote

Yes and no. CLAMP started as a doujin circle but they eventually became professionals.
Don't attack his Dream GUYS! D8

making a post like this would make you the troll.
please don't make vague generalizations just because in this day in age dreams are unreachable for many.
I'm trying to pursue my dream (and I am aware of the risks and the chances of success) and would appreciate if you didn't try to ruin that
If you're 13 you shouldn't be on Sankaku, it's full of pedophiles.
PS: how are gonna get a work visa?
I don't understand the reasons not to show some of your art. Like Motaku suggested, even a photo camera picture works if you don't have access to a scanner.
Try reading this:
WHAT THE FUCK.
YOU SPELL MANGAKA WRONG AND HAD TO GOOGLE WHAT CLAMP IS.
If you're good, you can be exported. The cute female Chinese mangaka that was reported last time is serialized in Japan. Can't remember which magazine though.
Chinese discrimination in Japan is very strong. Especially if you can't even speak Japanese yet. American discrimination isn't so bad, but that's only because they find Caucasian guys hot. As a Chinese person raised in America, you're in a worst case scenario.
If you think you're good enough to draw Manga, then you should be an accomplished artist already. Single pieces are child's play compared to actually drawing manga. There's story, dialogue bubbles, shading, expression of movement, angles and tons more to consider.
You don't know what a doujin circle is. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA WTF You think you can just fly over to Japan, mail off a script to a JUMP competition and make it big? No. 1 mangaka in Japan? WHAT A JOKE.

I can see a similarity between Mikorio and cookie. (o_o;)

Couldn't have said better myself, Spandexninja is just as delusional as Ku_Fei wanting to be a "Mangaku". Also, I facepalmed when he had to google CLAMP...

I can RAGEEEEE pretty hard at people with no common sense. Seriously. Am I too much of a sadist for enjoying crushing people's impossible dreams and enjoying it?
