  1. Caught this on Moetron and wanted to share this, even thought it's been out for a while.

Marimo Studio has posted a video — narrated completely in English using VoiceText software — which introduces the viewer to an in-depth look at the world of Vocaloid and its cultural impact in today’s music industry. The original source for the info comes from the Asahi 「be」 report published on March 21st. If you’re a strong advocate of the Vocaloid series, it’s definitely worth taking a look — found after the jump. (Also included is the related Asahi Shimbun News Special video, subtitled in English on Youtube, in case you missed it. Features brief interviews with ryo, sososo-P, and Tripshots.)

ryo is known for Melt and World is Mine, Tripshots known for the 3D PV Nebula, and sososoP for one of the first Luka songs on Nico, Looking for.

I think it is noteworthy to mention that Vocaloid composer sososoP believes that the introduction of Vocaloid music on iTunes will help Western-created Vocaloid music take off.

There is also brief coverage on the NicoNico Vocaloid ranking software as well as MikuMikuDance.

I'm surprised people are actually allowed to make money off of this program.

I'd seen a few Vocaloid albums in the past, but the notion of them always baffled me.

I'm hardly surprised. One can make a commercial album using Yamaha keyboards without anybody getting upset. Long as it's actually a licensed copy I'd doubt they'd care.

No word on albums consisting of sounds from Yamaha dirt bikes.

I guess it's like creating a document on any word processor, and using that to advertise your garage sale.
Or a spreadsheet in Office Excel to expand your company. It's not like Microsoft is going to come after you for doing so. That's the free creative license they give to people who use thier program.

Or is it more like when I use Adobe Premier to create commercials at the radio station where I worked, without being sued for using said progam to make money...
In the end, though, I wasn't using a company's original character, or voice, with little to no credit of the program's creators, in order to do so.

    LOL!

  7. It doesn't really matter weather its licensed or not, they don't even have to mention it, but they do mainly because they want their creation to be branded Vocaloid and thus get a popularity push, if its anything worth the while that is.

If I am not mistaken, there was a whole big deal with Creative Commoners Licence or something of the sort, but I am not well informed.
