yes, I got a lot of anime to watch plus I got netflix and video games.
I like chu bra because I like slice of life anime that are upbeat.
I like Omamori Himari because I like girl power action anime with demons and monster girls.

The biggest VA surprise I had recently was that Hysterica, from dance in the Vampire Bund, was voiced by Rie Kugimiya- that's way to finally break the loli-tsundere typecast.

That one really surprised me. I spent the entire episode trying to figure out who Hysterica's seiyuu was because she sounded so familiar. I had to look it up after I was finished with the episode. I doubt I ever would have guessed that it was Kugimiya.

Yes...
Because I watch animé differently.
To me, its much more than a - "instant expectant gratification" - for action, Ecchi, fanservice, and such.
Besides ~
At times, all those things you mentioned, just takes time to render themselves fully before coming to the surface.
In addition ~
I look at the Character designs, so I am always looking at the details present.
I listen to the subtle tones of the Characters background story when spoken and presented.
I watch the effects that are present in the animé itself, how they are done, and how it effects the animé.
To prevent a tl'dr ~ Its a combination of varying factors ~ for me.
Ndeed, its dependant on each viewer, and what they want to see and take notice.
