   So why do Japanese Women scorn Otaku, specifically male otaku?

   Artefact has posted lots of stuff about other otaku's otaku-ness.

   But being an uncommon otaku, I noticed that a great many Japanese women who scorn the male otaku, are also themselves - otaku.

   The problem is that these women are in total denial that they are otaku too.
   For example a lot of Japanese women love to travel and see the world, these are what I call "Traveling Otaku" Gobs of them take group tours all over Europe.
   Then there are the Academic Otaku, the Japanese Women who pursue careers in Education and Medical Research.

   Also, any Japanese Woman that is dedicated to their chosen career. Which would be Career Otaku or more specifically which ever career they are involved with. Pharmacology Otaku, or Dental Otaku, Biological Sciences,... it may be nursing or as a physician, or researcher.

   But the one Otaku-ness that the majority of Japanese Women are guilty of being, is that a great many of them are "Fashion Otaku".
   They don't realize, that the Name Brands they chose so fussily about singles them out to be typical Otaku's. All women love fashion, true enough. But for the sake of the argument, its all too blatant a truth of the matter.
   What goes with what, are the colours and patterns going together well or complementing this with that, which colonge should I wear with this. does this make my ass look big, should I wear a scarf with this, now which purse should I use today, and then on top of that.
   There is the matter of Cosmetics. Which single them out at Glam Otaku. This starts out at an early age, when girls start to get involved with trendy fads, this evolves over time - except instead of getting their parents to spend money on thier "Glam" needs, these women have to spend extra money on the stuff to make themselves beautiful. Its a commercial trap that all women fall for especially if they're gullible to big advertising and gossip about what is hot and what is not.

   So instead of looking at a guy on the street and saying "eewww, that one looks like an otaku!"
   Shouldn't they be looking in the mirror before dashing off to work, and asking themselves "Am I really an otaku, too?".
   If I really am, then maybe I really shouldn't be so cruel about other single men being otaku.

   Otherwise, these women are just being hypocritical and living in total denial about their own true natures.

   Ummm however anime otaku and the like, and I mean those extremely passionate about it, tend to have poor hygiene so its not really a suprise. They also buy products obssesively which leaves a lot of them in debt and in todays standards (Japan) thats a complete no no.

   Hey i'll have you know my poor hygiene has nothing to do with being an otaku. I just don't like taking showers unless it's to jack off or brushing my teeth everyday. I also hate soap. But yeah i can see your viewpoint but i think a big catch is that being a crazed otaku just turns alot of people off even though generally speaker we're very nice people just with a large number of quirks personalty wise.

   To them the whole premise of being an otaku is kinda creepy, which sorta ties in with the darker side of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

   And who can blame them really. The stuff we're into must certainty have a rather haunting look to non-otaku so it's hard for them to get to like it, and by extension, like you ether.

   This double standard comes about because women are hypergamous. (Not bashing at all, just explaining biology.)

   Even if a woman is an otaku herself, she'll want a mate who is high in social status. Unfortunately, otaku in general don't rank high on the social ladder. Perhaps if one were a doctor who was also an anime otaku, women would be able to overlook it. But an average Joe who is an otaku doesn't stand a chance.

   This is getting a bit into psychology, but women in general are attracted to how high-status a man appears. One would think that showing off a $10,000 collection of anime figures would indicate that the man would make a good mate since he's obviously got the resources to acquire such a collection. But substance doesn't really matter much. The fact that the collection is anime related delegates the otaku man to low status.
   On the other hand, a man who spent $10,000 on a rolex watch would be seen as high status since other men of high status also purchase such things. It doesn't even matter if the rolex man has $500,000 in debt. I read a study (sorry can't find it right now) that showed that men who spend more money on things that make them appear high status (expensive cars, etc...) had twice as many sexual partners as men who were frugal, even though the frugal men had more money in the bank.

   So in short, women in general aren't attracted to otaku because in their eyes otaku=low status.

   From what I understand, most women care a lot less about the actual quality of their mate and more about how their selection of mate will reflect amongst her peers.

    thanks guys (and ladies) for the great input on the issue your views are most appreciated both positive and negative.

    Funny depending upon how you want to look at it, Japan is a nation of otaku's everyone has their own special interests, though some don't have as much self restraint as others, & are simply passionate about what they love.

    You don't have to be a pervert to be an otaku.

    Women go along with the status quo and try to desperately fit in yet at the same time they are attracted to males who flaunt the status quo only if it makes them seem powerful and not a leper. Otakus are social lepers. That's why they will never be popular with women unless otakuism becomes the status quo.

    Well i DO shower when i go out but that's not often. I just don;t mind smelling bad around the house or even outside. I just shower when say going to work or shopping if i have the time. Well those or when/after fapping. I just don;t see the point if i'm just going to get dirty again.

    because those women are jealous of how we otaku treat our 2D waifu much better then them. I'll admit I'm one of those obsessive anime otaku. I for one aren't afraid to hide this hobby of mine from public. for me there is nothing define as cool or beautiful in real life. only in some occasion which is anime of course ^_^; . because you should of know if we doesn't claim them to be good looking or god like. they were never gorgeous to begin with.

    I don't think the people living with you are fond of your bad smell. Unless they smell bad as well.

    I just want to say simi-off topic like that every skate boarder I've met has been an unusually nice, friendly and agreeable person. It might just be the skateboarders around where I live though so I will not argue this point, and I hope you don't try to agrue it with me ether.
