2ch Hacked by Korean Netizens

  1. An army of Korean netizens apparently attacked the Japanese Internet forum 2ch for their anti-Korean postings, including those targeting Korea's Olympic gold-medal-winning figure skater Kim Yu-na, causing the site to shut down on Monday.

The attacks began at 1 p.m. on Monday, Korea's Independence Day, which marked Korea's movement against Japanese colonial rule 91 years ago.

Login attempts were unsuccessful in the afternoon.

About 30 out of 33 posting boards were paralyzed by 1:30 p.m.

Online security officials estimated that more than 10,000 Korean netizens participated in hacking into the site.

The attacks were triggered by comments praising Russians for the killing of a Korean student in Moscow.

  2. Was this hacking or just a ddos attack because ddos is the typical mode of attack and that isn't hacking?

  3. The symptoms would seem to indicate a DDoS attack. Pathetic.

    I conveniently missed this:

Why would they call this "hacking"? They're just being pricks.

QFT. Like seriously, the fact that they think this is actually some sort of accomplishment? haha, that's like thinking that you've accomplished something by prank-calling a person you're mad at.

The attacks were triggered by comments praising Russians for the killing of a Korean student in Moscow.

After that? Not at all surprised.

Also, Native Korean netizens can be more or less twice as brutal as any 2ch monkey.

    Driven celebrities to suicide? Check.

Driven average citizens into frenzy and riot? Check.

Revealed hidden agendas in the government and publicized it? Check.

List can go on and on...

I was saying that this is a BAD thing. Though of course, YOU'd take that as an attack to your precious Japanese overlords.

Koreans have always been like this. Someone attacks someone or something related to Korea? They'll retaliate in full.

I'm not sure if this "eye for an eye" mentality is directly related to how Korea's always been the abused nation between China and Japan through multiple campaigns of conquest from Japan and demands of subservience from China but they've certainly taken it to a new level in modern times.

it's a compliment of human society, idolation and obsession.
in america we have too many actors and musician celebrities for there to be a cohesive groupthink.

but sometimes you have a mesh of all those people like the twilight fans
you can't hate humans for doing it, we all have those habits.
their community just like any other with different interests, only bigger and possibly younger.
