  1. Well, I've never came across a site that shows how China fails harder than SanCom. But it's only the People's Republic of China. So, what about Taiwan? It should be noted that the first republic in mainland China, the Republic of China, didn't surrender when the People's Republic was established. Nor did the Chinese Civil War had officially ended. Although Taiwan (Republic of China, it relocated there when they fled the mainland in 1949.) unilaterally declared the war over in 1991, it still didn't surrender. So, just like the Koreas for the most part, Both Chinas still exist and still technically are at war. We all know what China #2 as been doing since then. While for China #1, lets just say has been like South Korea, only Japan likes Taiwan better (I fathom the irony). So my fellow sancom users, which China would you prefer?

People's Republic of China (China #2, What most of the world regards as China):

Republic of China (China #1, Taiwan, The "Good" one):

Considering the opening post is obviously flamebait (in before angry Chinese in 3... 2... 1...), I hardly doubt you intend to make a serious thread. But I'll throw this one a morsel. Maybe we can salvage something decent out of this.

You are conveniently ignoring the fact that there are political reasons why the PRC was tolerated back during the communist era, all the way back to World War 2 and maintained throughout the Cold War era. America did in fact supported Taiwan's independence until Nixon (remember the other saying about him?) and succeeding presidents reversed the US' stance. All other countries mainly were following the UN policy, which only recognizes the PRC (having the PRC occupying one of the seats of the security council may have something to do with this) while declaring Taiwan a "renegade province".

To my knowledge, after the victory of the communist in the mainland, the US had a policy to support Taiwan in which the ROC relocated to. They also recognized the ROC was the legitimate government of ALL of China. It was in 1978 that the US formal recognized the PRC and ended formal diplomatic relations with the ROC. The only reason the US did that because of the change of regime in the PRC. The moderates called for economic reform, which the US wasn't going to let it go to waste. It was also for the US to get in on the Sino-Soviet Split. The Soviet Union and it's allies obviously recognized the PRC early on. Some of the US allies too. Japan it took till 1972. And South Korea facing the same situation, took till 1992 (hence their "in a rut" relationship with Taiwan). Is was a way to reap in the PRC's economic rise. So it was more about economics than anything else. Now it has become so entrenched, it's considered crazy to see Taiwan as an independent nation, let alone the legitimate government of all of China for fear you'll get bet reaped by the PRC. Luckily, a few nations has the balls to recognize the ROC.

funny how Qing is the only dynasty isn't really from /china/.
also, they didn't do anything particularly cool imo. but well, all the dynasties suffered because of the corruption in the bureaucratic class, since the Han. There's little to nothing to brag about ancient legacies and states, since they've been reduced to nothing, or to a province in the best scenario.
Talking about "little to nothing", the same can be said to my knowledge of modern chinese history, but if we're talking about the USA, the roots of their actions are to be traced down in the XIX century, when other european states already claimed part of china's territory, leaving the USA, again, "little to nothing" to settle. therefore, their actions toward taiwan? I don't really know.
I only know that Song dynasty was the best one ever. Being invaded once, they begged for help to another tribe. the tribe won the war and moved against Song again. Song people begged mongolian, and again the mongolian people won the war and attacked again China. Despite owning one of the largest army ever, the Song dynasty lost every battle and war they've stepped into. Absolutely awesome.
