I originally was considering making a thread about it, but decided to put it on the random videos thread instead since it's not really that notable enough (and if it was, there should be an article about it right now).
(And there's also the possible threat of copyright infringement if it was picked up to be featured in the main page. Not that it matters in a site like Sankaku Complex, but better safe than sued.)
(And there's the usual forum idiots that's going to bitch about making unnecessary threads.)Posted 6 years ago # -

Shocking, I know.
(Okay, maybe also because of the money that this will rake in, but still...)

Actually that could be possible. Hell maybe even one of us is her

Why?

What's the phrase I've seen you use? oh yes, "KILL IT WITH FIRE!".
I used to follow Kirsten ("Kiki Delivery Service"- one of my first anime experiences) but she's really let me down as a actress and plus, I grew up.
McG? -God, say no more! I saw some blog where they were mocking her in that outfit cause she was believed to be trying to imitate the Japanese. I don't know it was for a video. I've disliked her ever since I saw "Marie Antionette" and "Spider Man 3". I can't believe I used to be a fan of hers.
I don't think she's done a movie since.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turning_JapaneseSince many consider the song to be about masturbation, Akihabara is the perfect otaku backdrop isn't it?

Takashi Murakami was a failed artist that rode the popularity of the otaku consumer culture, and coined Superflat (supposedly a criticism on Japanese consumer culture, ironic since his work is brought into mainstream in becoming a name equated with the likes of Vutton, Gucci, & Prada). The Superflat movement legitimatized moe, aesthetics above narrative, and the genericness of Japanimation--basically, according to Superflat, there is no original ideas, culture is an illusion, and artists should not be criticized for their work.
If you want to know more, the internet is your valuable research, but you won't find most of the criticisms on Superflat in English sites, though it is there if you can read between the lines.
tl;dr - he is a sellout.

The other way to describe him is that he sells tawdry plastic figures on Sotheby's for millions and is consequently hated by the not-as-successful otaku community -- folks who deride success outside their sphere of interest with turgid pretension.
