KISS Rock Star Son Traces Bleach

  1. From GFAQs

So the son of Gene Simmions, of KISS fame, Nick Simmons, has his own "American manga". One character in particular has more than a resemblance to Kenpachi of Tite Kubo manga Bleach.

    Compare:

    Kenny

    Nick's character

  2. Rofl why is Zaraki in a horribly drawn cartoon with White Hair

    Where's his Lieutenant?!?

Trace? It's prractically redrawn and stolen xD

  3. Further proof that "American manga" sucks. It doesn't even look like manga, it just looks like a regular comic book with a Kenpachi cameo.

What's this "manga" called anyway? The masochist in me wants to read it and I might get some good lulz out of it.

  4. ok i heard it could be drawn similar and all and it's your linework that draws this. But that looks like a direct copy from zaraki, which is fail,i mean it can be similar, but this is just too much.

  5. Is there a site where people actually buy this crap so I can point out this guy's "talent"? It really pisses me off when you have hacks that try to pass material as their own. >:(

Take at look at the second link, It's not just that pic of Zenpachi, but also through out his comic, he has copied alot from Bleach..

"The perfect balance of dark comedy and action. A definite must buy!"- Comics Bulletin

I wonder how much they were paid to say that?

    Let's see:
    American origin
    read left to right
    fully colored
    comic book art style

What part of this is manga?
Well at least the cover looks nice, too bad he didn't draw the cover himself and instead hired a professional comic book artist to do it for him (probably with his dad's money). Seriously, what mangaka doesn't draw their own covers?

  7. If you look at the GameFAQs thread, there are more examples of copying. Many of the Bleach fanbase have already contacted Viz and Shueisha.

    I Don't get it.
An American person making a Comic out of an American Cartoon.

    am i missing something?

    Are they selling it?
Did they make Invader Zim blue and claim it as their original idea?

No, but the style clearly indicates Manga.
And why single that out talk about the rest while your at it.

It could just be that I'm acting like a weeaboo but I think you could have picked better examples of American manga.

    1. Is this really suppose to be American manga? It just looks like someone made an Invader Zim comic in their own style.
    2. The art is OK but the fact that it's a Naruto doujin that uses original characters really annoys me. They did do a good job at replication Kishimoto's art style though.
    3. This looks pretty good thought the faces are a little cartoonish. Having a character named Pinocchio makes me wonder if the story is about fairy tale characters. If that's true then I guess that Goldi is suppose to be Goldilocks from Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
    4. I think this looks the least like manga out of all of them. It looks more like a webcomic.

  13. The only one i recognized was invader zim

the second one i think is supposed to be naruto related? but i have no clue where it comes from
and the rest i might as well stare at a wall.
i was like ouran host highschool? o.o? which probably an insult xD

  15. A better example of American Manga, Maximum Ride. I haven't read it personally, as I don't care for artistic style (creepy shoujo eyes), but the quality itself is quite high, probably much higher than a typical authentic manga. Only better looking artwork that comes to mind off the bat is Umi no Misaki.

  16. So, Kubo has Twitter and after being informed of this responded. Anyone care to translate?

Yet another bunch of crab-mentality idiots.

Kubo's art style itself isn't notable, it's his CHARACTER DESIGNS that made his comics stand out. Not that his storytelling is anything memorable, but that's neither here nor there...

As far as I can see, Nick Simmons doesn't look anything like a Bleach facsimile. At its worst, it's inspired by Bleach, but that's about it. Hell, I wouldn't touch it even if I see it on the bargain bin.

Hell, if you're all going to start this massive witchhunt, go yell at the entirety of Japan, from Ozamu Tezuka onward, for tracing Disney's work.

    Idiots, the lot of them.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned Lea Hernandez' buddy of work, if you're all so hung up about OEL Manga.

And Snafu-comics, and no mention of Bleedman? Seriously?

    Isn't manwha basically Korean manga?
