  1. Greetings ~

In order to avoid FLOODING of the "Your Day" Thread with bickering, and fighting over cosplay...

I decided to create this thread to talk, argue, discuss, anything concerning cosplay!

Everyone has an opinion, a way to do things, and many DO SUPPORT their own version of such.

    This is admirable...

So, (ANYTHING GOES)... discuss, agree, argue...and disagree....

This is also an opportunity for members to place any Cosplays that are finished or on the planning stages to place, post, and get ideas from.

I am sure that many members would be interested in seeing those cosplays come to life, so share them here.

    ALSO...

The original SanCon BRS Cosplay SHOOTOUT has never come to friuition, because one did feel it was a need to continue...
between 2 cosplayers who have there own ~ "unique" ~ styles...[/center]

Personally, I would have LOVED to see their individual work, (alas) it did happen...

I originally asked for this Challenge, so here is the original start/reason for this thread creation:

Here is the request and idea:

    Deth said:
It seems to me that we have differences in opinions here...

Since this is concerning cosplay and in particularly ~ B★RS ~

So, I propose a ~ CHALLENGE! ~ between you two concerning said character...

Alls fair in love and war is it not?

Well, lets do a B★RS Cosplay shoot-out between you two to see who will come on top, this way this issue will end once and for all.

or are (either) one of you going to diss this challenge and give excuses not to participate?

Be WILLING to STAND UP FOR what you BOTH believe....

Accept and I will start a new Thread about this Cosplay Challenge, thus avoiding flooding this one with this cosplay feud.

    Single Character... B★RS

    What will be girls?

    Yes or No!?

    @ Mikorio

How about a link to your cosplays stuff (or) DA account? send a message to ~ dethenigma@live.com

    @ 女中 あゆ

Remember, I am NOT attacking you, in all honesty, I have also defended YOU also...

So, are you willing to participate, supporting YOUR belief, or ~

    YOU DON'T HAVE THE TIME?

I now let the thread commence!!

    RESPECTS!!

  3. This thread will be dead for quite a while, unless we bring our bickering over here, since I'm only starting my project around June.

WIP would be appropriate here then?

    Yes....

WIPs are great, as I (personally) would like to see progress, as it generates and inspires in ones creativity!

I also made a POLL with a MULTI VOTE option... so that its fair and equal...

I am pretty sure I missed some Key choices, but we can move along those choices when they come up...

  11. I won't hide it...

Cosplay is AN ART FORM and when the Cosplay is done correctly... then it becomes epic! and well-deserved of all the praise and congratulations.

As I said... My Waifu and her Cosplay equivalent:

    ====

Even when *just* starting.... one has to learn by the mistakes made (while) creating the costume <--- (I really hate using that word)

To me, its FAR better to make THAT/ANY mistake(s) while creating it, rather than experiencing the ~ *FAIL* ~ in a public event.

This is why (imo) that research be done in its entirety concerning the Character in question that's going to be cosplayed.

I have seen (both) sides of Cosplay... The Western and Eastern... and I always go with the Eastern creation, though I will admit that some Western cosplayers know what they are doing...

Many don't realize the time and effort that is actually placed into a creation.

Not ~ ONLY ~ does it involve the wish to create a cosplay.... but bravery also...because that cosplayer is stepping out in front of everyone to be ~ PUBLICLY JUDGED!

and for many... many use cosplay as a way to come out of their secluded shells and to overcome fears!

This Not counting, the money spent, the blood, sweat, tears, fail, successes, and ALL combined that gets a cosplay in the right direction.

Its nerve racking, and once one reaches that goal of ProCos... then there's MORE pressure to deliver!

This also occurs when just starting out, and with each small success, the pressure mounts to make the next cosplay EVEN BETTER!!

This is why I support/watch Cosplayers on my DA page...

    ====

plus I like the way they handle situation(s), difficulties, and come up with the solutions when they face prop challenges... especially when the created prop fails or breaks easily.

Some props are complete fails, while some are soo real, that its even hard for the Security/Police to notice the difference.

Let not forget the competition that arises between cosplayers as well..

I have seen many a Multi-Rukia's battle it out between each other, vying for camera time!

Maybe its a niche not found yet, because it may seem difficult to try?

    Well...

I think DO see your point and I missed my chance in making that choice sorry...

However.... moving along, I pose a question.
    ...

Would you consider - "re-enacting" - to be the same as Cosplay, and placed within the same cata or would that be different all together?

    Medieval, WWII, and like?

    Thoughts?

  16. Depends on your take of the word "cosplay" really. The technical definition is dressing up. That's it. Japanese regularly call wearing Nurse, maid or any type of uniform cosplaying.

The more international definition is just dressing up as anime, game or manga characters.

So re-enactment would technically be cosplay, although I doubt that they themselves or hardcore ACG cosplayers would call them that.

    THANK YOU for this...

I was rather curious about what the (actual) difference would be seen and considered by the Asian pov...

I KNOW of various Re-Enacting Clubs (mostly Medieval, Vietnam War, and WWII Era) from various countries that I personally attended.

I don't think they would call themselves as ~ Cosplayers ~ (as your probably right on this) ~ however, these Clubs do have a strong following... and are extremely popular.

    btw ~

I will limit my usage of - "Icon Rukia" - as I know you don't (enjoy) them (that) much! ~ LOL!!

I was (actually) waiting on your arrival Sir...and of course, I was not disappointed by the post...

    Now onwards...

Of course, this depends on each individuals personal preference, however, NOT ALL cosplayers are attention whores...

Granted, there ARE some obvious ones... YES, I will concede on this point... because they require a EGO boosting...

But, there are those who enjoy it for the skill, and art craft in creating the clothing required...

and I have seen some brutal medieval re-enacting with sword play and battle techniques...

Now do you consider historical re-enacting in the same vein as cosplay, or is it also ~ "attention whoring" ~ as you stated?
