Sancon Visual Novel: NOW HIRING

  1. To make this project come true, we need help from across the internet. We're looking for people who can be part of the following:

    ART TEAM
    - People who can draw or photoshop.
    - Not just characters, but backgrounds, weapons, monsters etc.
    - Comfortable with drawing blood, gore and other possible violent themes.
    - Good grasp of human anatomy, mostly female.

    PROGRAMMING TEAM
    - People who are familiar with HTML code.
    - Experience in using Ren'py (http://www.renpy.org/wiki/renpy/Home_Page) is ideal, but optional.
    - Understanding the more technical explanation of Ren'Py is a major plus.
    - Familiar with basics of visual basic/Java.

    MUSIC TEAM
-Ability to compose simple BGM music using computer software such as Garage band.

    STORYBOARD TEAM
    -Confident author.
-Familiar with ideas and terms such as traps, use of magical energy and weaponry.
    -Open to suggestion.
    -Creative.

    QUALITY CONTROL TEAM
    - People who are critical (quality comes first), but not insulting or rude.
    - Must be open-minded.
    - Should not be afraid of pissing off other members of the team by suggesting improvements – the goal is quality.
    - Possess a very good level of written English language.
    - Be able to work accurately.
    - Have a lot of time and (most importantly) patience. You may have to check the same thing again and again, days on an end.

QC does NOT equal alpha or beta testing. If you want to do that, wait until an actual beta comes out.

All who apply must be dedicated and have ample time to work on this project. If you're not serious, don't bother.

Separate screening threads for each team is going to be opened, so please prepare if you want to join. You will have to submit samples of your work for the art team and possibly the storyboard team.

    Open for discussion below.

Nice incentive. C: Man, when I saw the other thread appear for the first time, I would've never guessed this would actually happen.

    Well, here's my application!

If anything, I'd like to be part of the art team. I haven't really followed the thread where the plans were being made, so I'm not so up-to-date on what kind of themes are going to be used, but I'm comfortable in every zone. I have the most experience in drawing fantasy and modern day themes, but I should be good to do pretty much anything, ranging from sci-fi to medieval themes. C: I'm willing to do both character art and background art. I'm fine with drawing gory scenes. I'm also prepared to do drawings with both human and non-human characters/enemies etc. While I'm quite busy during this schoolyear (I'm in cram school), I'll have quite a lot of time once it's over. C:

I'll submit some samples of my art, starting with the oldest. Keep in mind that the last picture is still a work-in-progress. C:

  5. while i'm not good at drawing i believe i have a firm grasp of most if not all terms and ideas that could be used. i also have a tendency to think up stories every time i watch a manga or anime and figure out how i could integrate it into the current story of whatever i'm watching. in short a councelor of sorts i guess.

  7. I wouldn't mind being with the art team , I've gotten better since I've started studying human anatomy , especially women, anyways , the only thing I can't do is photoshop , I'm not good with it , all I can do is draw , then submit the sketches .About backgrounds I don't mind doing some , but I'm not good with windows . I'm fine with gore , but I can't draw the hentai scenes , since the scanner is not mine . I have to go through my father . I'll post my drawings when I can.

Currently, we're probably going with Ren'py. It actually does most of the work; you just have to put in the scripting. It appears to be fairly simple at any rate.

It doesn't harm to check your link though. We'll take a look. For now, we're still far away from coding. :)

It's not like we can have too many members. Anyone who honestly wants to be part should be allowed to do so. It's going to be a Sancom game after all. ^_^

We already decided on Ren'Py, but I guess we should take a look on that software, too. It's not like we are really programming, it's just simple scripts. Anyone who has some basic knowledge could possibly do it. Though the fact that it's shitloads of work still remains.^^''

  19. Just one question : Do I start drawing when the story is done , or do I start drawing now ?

  20. I think voices are not really a concern for now. There's plenty to do before we should even consider that. :P

Well, starting early to draw for the story wouldn't be very effective, since we're still deciding on most of the stuff which can at best be considered the very broad lines of the story. We'll first need a setting and a theme. Currently, the battle is raging between Modern and Steampunk. You can vote here.

You can of course make some concept art either way, but I'm not sure how effective it'd be when we're still not certain which setting we're working with.
