Blade&Soul - PC/PS3 cross platform MMO

  1. Blade&Soul is personally my most anticipated MMO to date.
There's a lot of speculations going on. The hater society seems to outgrow the fanbase, but I believe that's just the usual retarded spouting coming from WoW addicts.
The game got a bit delayed and thus the beta is planned sometime in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2010.

There's really a lot to say about the game itself, including the fact that it'll be simply kick ass for the Otaku society. But instead of reading a wall of text, just watch the trailer:

  2. The reaction you speak of isn't surprising. Most Western gamers don't have much love for Korean games since they are usually made pretty poorly. So this is basically Magna Carta the MMO?

Pretty much yes. It's the same artist at least.

  4. Personally I'd jump ship from wow in a heartbeat if even 1 of these mmos were released in english or i FINALLY learn japanese and they are

Tales of eternia online (sadly i hear it's dead even in japan)

Monster Farm online (would probably be called Monster Rancher online if brought over)

I heard there was a zoids mmo i'd play that in a heartbeat same for a dragonball one i think i heard of. I'd also jump ship if they made a bleach a .hack a macross or a gundam one. WoW is good but man i just know i'd LOVE these.

  5. I've always loved Hyung Tae Kim's characters design. Unfortunately though I'm not much of a fan of korean games except Granda Espada. By the looks of the video however, It seems promising. I wish there was a beta server so i could see the gameplay for myself.

  6. OKAY THAT LOOKS EPIC. pls tell me it's gonna see an english version. I can even see a non otaku friend of mine loving this game.

Oh and did anyone else get a BoF4 feeling from that fire demon at the end?

Its pretty, but w/out gameplay it can either be epic of fail...

BUT still, it's gorgeous ^^ The only thing that will scare me are the pre requisites to run a RAID in this thing Oo

The game will debut worldwide with a standard set of versions (Korean, Chinese, Japanese, English). No idea if any other versions are planned though.

  9. the trailer is basically all actual gameplay, of course using the game feature to hide the interface. Of course camera views are exploited to make things seem more exciting than it really is :p The game is made to be played without a skill book, its like a arcade fighting game but in a 3d world xD you can actively block and parry, side step and grab combos, I especially love how the damage is calculated, if you side step and the attack hits you from an angle, the damage will be reduced xD... I'm excited :p

Like AION, it'll come out in korea first then later translated.

  10. Well it is being made for the right market considering how ravenous Korean mmo'ers are but I doubt it will be successful anywhere else. That's unless they can get someone to properly promote it in foreign markets. Even then it probably only has a slim chance.

  11. I'm used to free MMOs, and free MMO = complete grind fest ~_~ so when I tried AION, it was a piece of cake to reach max level when compared to free mmos where max level is 150 and at lvl 90 it takes an hour to get 3% without buying cash shop exp items x_x

  12. I am waiting for this game since I saw it last year in summer...
Yes, I am aware that I play / wait for too many MMOs.

The developers are more than certain that it'll top Aion's popularity with ease. I believe NCSoft has the marketing power to push their products through regardless of whether the public likes it or not. And considering how well known Aion is world-wide, it's not really hard to imagine B&S's success rate, considering that it'll introduce an exciting, new and unique fighting system, that wasn't yet met in previous MMOs. Making it cross-platform gives it even more advantage. And, even though I won't judge how great the game itself will turn out to be, but the fact that it'll be well known is undeniable.

  14. I'm into games but never heard of Aion until now so I am going to guess Aion is popular only in Korea and with those who have interests in Korean gaming.

Those with interest in MMO gaming heard and already tried out Aion. It really caused a major fuss in the MMO world claiming to be able to surpass World of Warcraft.
A gamer and a MMO Gamer are 2 completely different things ^_^

But by admitting only your particular niche knows of this title you are proving it isn't popular unlike WoW which is known by many outside of the MMORPG community.

WoW is known outside the mmo society simply because it's old.
In fact, it's so known that people all over the net crack jokes about it. In particular, it is known to MMO as well as FPS, Racing, RPG and other genre gamers. Using it as a scapegoat to justify your statement that Korean MMOs are least known would be inaccurate and wrong.
It was a one of a kinda MMO and became pretty popular over time. Those who are in some way involved in MMO gaming aside from just being familiar with certain titles know a wide range of mmo games and Aion is certainly one of them.
Everyone outside the MMO gaming range only know that a genre called "MMORPG" exists and will most likely use WoW as the only example, since that's as far as their knowledge permits them to go.

Anyways, other widely known titles are: Lineage, Guild Wars, Ragnarok, Maple Story, and such... Those that wanted to find a MMO best suited for them tried a variety of different games. And as far as my knowledge goes, if you exclude WoW from the selection list, Koreans are taking over the MMO market.(or most likely had already done so long ago)

Actually, if you haven't at least heard of how shitty the NCSoft service is for Aion, you must have your head stuck under a rock somewhere.

I won't say the game itself is bad, though. But the service or lack thereof from NCSoft for the game is notorious. Bots run around the game like free range cattle and recently there's been a security breach at NCSoft West causing more than a few accounts to be hacked by third parties.

And the Real Money Traders run rampant as well. They had this same set of fatal problems in their previous games like Lineage 2, but obviously haven't learned from it.

I'm personally looking forward to B&S for its aesthetic value. This is the FIRST time I've seen Hyung Tae Kim's character design translate well to 3d. Any other time, like in the magna carta games, too many details and proportions of the characters get lost at the whim of the 3d modelers. However, knowing NCSoft West, I'm not sure if I'll be playing...

  19. Yea the problem with aion and other MMOs out in korea is the bots. However in my experience when these games come into the states in english version the bots are taken care of by gameguard. Sure gameguard sometimes cause problems for the users but its not often. Bypassing gameguard used to be a cinch a few years back but now the system is really dependable.

I would personally rather deal with bots than with GameGuard xD
