ACORN is not the cause of your current economic down turn. It was greed, particularly corporate greed in the financial sector.
Most Americans get little to no health coverage from their employers besides getting none from the government and it being prohibitively expensive and restrictive to get on one's own usually. This is why the number one reason for bankruptcy in America the last time I heard was still medical bills.
This has nothing to do with left or right. America's health care system is broken and without this reform no one is doing anything to fix it. At the end of the day either businesses or the government will need to foot the bill. Though this means the people will be the ones actually paying for health care for all citizens through taxes or more expensive goods and services. At least the cost will be distributed among all. America can't just keep going on business as usual conserving, preserving, and propping up their broken system.

Right before my current job I was on Unemployment for almost a Year! (it was shortly after 9-11) I spent so much time just watching movies, watching TV news & Media that it's actually how I was able to "talk my way into an Interview" with my future boss. It was an absolute fluke that I happened to meet the guy who actually Hired me - Why did he pick me? Cause I said I could devote 100% of my day & night to my job (which was true at the time- as I was laid-off).
I was just a researcher & rank info gatherer but I asked questions, I learned the job, I learn how the Firm worked, I learned how to advance, I offered my time & services Unselfishly without reward, AND I asked "What I could to Help my superiors" by the end of my second year - I was calling shots, I was promoted, I was given more roles, and allowed to do My Own things- I get to CHOOSE weather or not to even "show up" as I can do most of my Job & Reports from Home or even a McDonalds- lol.
I can now take my Prestige & Rep to any other "Firm" that handles what I do - I've made contacts & connections and can easily call a 'Head Hunter' to get another Job in less than a week. I've got a Rep and References that can speak before I even make face time with a client....I made this out of 'Nothing' but MY Own Design & Talents for being 'Media Savvy'.

I didn't read the thread as I assumed it was a giant ball of flaming but I felt like addressing some issues:
- It came as no surprise to me that the democrat lost in the Mass. race, why?
1. Well the major issues of health care did not pertain to Massachusetts as itself has a more structured form of health care then even the bill was proposing. Thus Mass. was a losing race from the get go, why vote for something that will increase your taxes and you get nothing in return for it? This is in no way a "national election" nor a "referendum on president Obama" as fox news portrayed it as. It came down to local and state issues.
2. She led a poor campaign, she was not out there exposing herself to the people like Obama did as well as some of the gaffs she made portrayed her as "elitist". Where as the Republican led an excellent campaign by not calling in the senior republicans, the ultra conservatives, and thus alienating the large independent voters in Mass. Not only that but he didn't fully showcase himself as a republican which also appealed to the large independent voters.
3. The Health Care bill as it is now was a complete failure for the democrats. They sat on it far too long with a huge majority already and proceeded to fill it with unnecessary fluff to help out the special interest groups. If from the start it was made into a smaller, more comprehensive legislation focusing on the major components and faults of the current health care system and less on some ideas that I could clearly recognize as pipe dreams at this time and point; then, it would of already passed.
This just forces the democrats to actually sit down with republicans, and actually talk over and negotiate on legislation that is a compromise for both agendas but wholly is a greater good for the health care system. Like they were ORIGINALLY suppose to do. *sigh*
