    It turned out it's just an account setting issue. Must have gotten turned off for some people (myself included) during the migration, for some reason. We'll probably remove that option completely soon, since it doesn't really make sense with how huge some of the files on the channel are.

    For now, if you don't like huge files loading right away and want sample images instead, just:

    - Go to My Account -> Settings
    - Check the "Show Image Samples" option
    - Save

    Just a quick update for those interested in this issue:

    My above post is now obsolete. Resized samples are being shown for everyone now, and the option has been removed from account settings. Clicking on the resized image replaces it with the original. But you can also middle-click, ctrl-click, etc to open the image by itself in a new tab. Or "right-click -> save link as" to save the original, or "save image as" for the resized one.

    Also note that the dimensions, file size and a link to the smaller, resized image are now available in the sidebar in addition to those of the original. This is for those who'd prefer smaller, more manageable images over huge, full resolution ones. You can just pick whichever you want and right-click -> save it from there, for convenience.
