Sooo... to get back to the subject...

This is what Google told me an otaku looks like:

    And this is its habitat:

You can also use the wataku picture that was posted on the mainsite, which clearly shows the female gender type, thought to be near extinction:

  2. whilste i don't have that many figures, i have enough for my family and friends to state "more?, but you have no where to put them?!" posters on the other hand i have enough to cover my current apartment with them completely and my room is litteraly plastered in it, and no, i don't where glasses, and i read (or used to) read my manga on the buss on the way to school. i also supply my friends and family with new things to watch and am the "go to" guy amongst my friends whenever it comes to "do you know where i can find hentai of this series" or "do you have the new negima volume yet? is your sister done reading it yet? can i borrow it yet?"

and an otaku will usually describe himself as such, although not easy to describe or identify, you instantly know when you become one, and like the saying says
"it takes one to know one" :3

  4. hehehe, double post.....and i still remember there reaction when i bought my tora musume figure (my first figure ever) there eyes poped open, they were speachless, then they just accepted it and teh vacation kept going. once i started plastering my side of the room with wall scrolls, run out of room on my shelf with figures and VHS tapes, they started askign qeustions. the simple and effective answer was...
"at least i'm not out there buying drugs and beer right?"

    that usually settels any argument.

Hmm, their are 2 Ai-buster novels, and a whole load of other .hack// manga and novels.
the ai=buaster are the first two in the series though, although the second on is sort of like an anthology of other stories in the series, and doesn't really focus on a main cast.
It does continue the first novel though.

I don't have any posters, or figures or anything.
    Too poor.

  6. i must be missing one then. i'ts back home but it's the one where near the start a town gets attacked as an event and the main guy takes out the monster with one swing of his spear which was a unique item from the beta or something like that. he also meets some new girl that plays a mage or other. i'll have to read it again now that i'm not playing wow anymore.

    That's the first one.
I think it also came before the anime series.

  8. I could be filed under the definition of 'otaku' or 'weeaboo' by anyone who just likes to throw the terms around, but I'm more like an American NEET (though I'm actually between schools) who likes Japanese things in addition to other stuff.

I do have things like posters and stuff, but most of my money goes to video games and books/manga. I have figures but most of them have been gifts from friends.

Though one time some relatives and their friends came over, saw my bookshelf, only saw the manga and promptly asked me if I had any 'normal' books that people would actually want to read. Nevermind half my bookshelf is full of things like classic literature. Way to go.

way to go ignorant people who jump to conclusions. there is no such thing as a "normal" book. if they classify harry potter as a normal book then anything in the fantasy section is normal....bleh, normal is just an illusion created by those who are afriad of being different.

back home in mexico city, anime is starting to become i'ts own subculture. there are several conventions every year, whole strip malls for just anime and other related products, and we have animax on satelite tv so were not shuned as much as we used to.

They always focus on the bad stuff. It's like... how would you treat me if I was doing everything I am now, except without the figurines, posters, manga, or anime?

A mall full of strip clubs where all performers cosplay popular anime girls ... is what I'd like it to be. Alas, the real thing turns out to be "an open area shopping center where the stores are arranged in a row, with a sidewalk in front. Strip malls are typically developed as a unit and have large parking lots in front. They face major traffic arterials and tend to be self-contained with few pedestrian connections to surrounding neighborhoods." At least Wikipedia claims it to be so. But then, it also claims that Johannes Voggenheimer of Ohio is the most famous example of a micropenis, so I'm not sure if this definition is to be trusted more than my wishful thinking.

Talking of OST, know a good place to get them?

http://www.gendou.com , you need to register though, recently, they implemented an annoying as hell system, in which if you didn't donate at least a buck to their site, you can't dl the recently arrived OST's, you need to wait for days or weeks b4 you can dl it...

or, if you want to test your luck, try http://www.gammafiles.com.

    arrr, mate!

    On topic:
An (Anime)Otaku for me is someone who loves anime in general, no biased series or genre fanbase whatsoever, he/she loves anime as a whole, the good things and the bad things..

and btw I have this disease, that every time I see an anime character, the world would go dark and the only I can see is the anime pic, and after a minute it'll give me an urge to draw moe chars, the more I hesitate to draw the more I become wild...

That's essentially the only ways to increase the population, since it won't happen by reproduction.
