PC plays games to right?

  1. I'm getting a new PC building something from scratch with a nice big GTX card and an AMD phenom 2 x4 black processor so I should be able to run most recent PC games.

    I haven't played a PC game since Battlefield 2 because I have a 360 and a Wii.

Is there anything on PC I need to be looking into that isn't already on 360? Anything but fucking warcraft. I love shit like assasin's creed and mirror's edge but i'm more into the phantasy star and aforementioned Battlefield series.

I used to play Fantasy Earth Zero, and had a level 36? mage back then. Then they started blocking non-japan ips... and it was f2p too, so sad.

It was pretty easy to level and get relatively decent gear, since its focused on nation vs nation battles and conquering other nation's territories, and if you participate in battles, you can get points to trade in for gear/etc. And you also get exp by going into battles, though I'd recommend going to battles only after level 20, or else you'd just get slaughtered by the higher levels.

Another one that I played for awhile was RF (Rising Force? forgot the full name), and then English version just closed down recently? so I guess you can try playing the Japanese version, since it should still be there and available. Leveling is relatively quick until 30-ish I think, then it starts being a drag.

Soul of the Ultimate Nation was another one that I was trying out a month ago, until it started crashing my computer, lol. It seemed okay, just a typical mmorpg.

Something that's a little bit ago, Sword of the New World / Granado Espada was pretty good/unique. You get to control 3 characters at the same time, and there's some npcs that you can hire as well. The character design was pretty good.

=P let me know if you play something else that's worth playing, since I've been wanting to get back to mmorpgs lately.

  7. If we're talking about MMORPGs other than World of Crackcraft, I might suggest Ragnarok Online 1 and 2. Sure it's a Korean invention, but it's been assimilated well in Japan and all over the world.

RO 1 is pretty good in terms of its solid gameplay, sheer pleasing 2D aesthetics and unique class abilities. In general I would rate it pretty highly...but of course it is let down by the bunch of annoying 14 year olds., which is an event that all must endure in every server.

As with RO 2...that hasn't been fully fleshed out yet. Sure the engine is quite good and does capture some of the RO 1 magic...but I played it only for a couple of days only to travel the world and admiring the scenery with Yoko Kanno music. Then I quit.

Well, given now you have a PC...play some visual novels that you've been missing. Lately there have been a couple of translations. The only visual novels I know that I have been adapted to consoles are 328 and Chaos;Head, so PC has always been frontlines for these sort of games.

However, to be honest, you're better off waiting and see what the market has up next. Blizzard's next releases seems good, although it doesn't fully justify how much money they're making from WoW. And if you can find it, play Baldur's Gate 2, which is in my opinion, superior to all J-RPGs I've played.

  15. You'll want to play all the PC Exclusive games, or at least the ones where the PC was the lead platform and hence ending up being the best working version (in most cases). Some PC ports of console games are awful (I'm looking at you Resi 4, even with your patched-up ness you are inferior to the GC and Wii releases still) so it'd be wise to stick with the above.

At the moment I'm still having great fun with Simcity 4 Deluxe, paid full price for it 4 years ago and I haven't regretted it. Now I see it really cheap, a bargain really.

Play S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl (modern-set sci-fi FPP that started being developed as FPRPG (like Deus Ex) but ended up as an awesome FPP (not sure if you can call it an FPS). IMO the best game I've played for >5 years) and The Witcher (Awesome dark fantasy RPG. Like Far Cry it's gonna have its console version, but it won't be a port, rather a new game in the series).
You may also try GRAW2 (it has a demo for 100%). IIRC PC and console wersions are diffrent games...
Also World in Conflict, Warhammer 40.000: Dawn of War (my fav RTS) and TrackMania (arcade racer with track editor as a important part of the game. Check out the free "Nations" version)...
And Both Crysis and the previous game - Far Cry weren't on consoles. But as I said before, FC had a additional game in the series on x360 (I thing it was Far Cry: Instincts)...

  18. If Yahtzee is to be believed, Peggle is crack cocaine in PC game form.

"I started playing it around noon, and emerged from my room sometime later to find that the authorities had declared me legally dead."
