when there's a gallery usually i'd want to grab, but it takes forever to do so. so why not add a zip file of every image for us to download? if it takes up too much bandwidth, it can be up for just a day or two.

It's not that it isn't a bad idea but... There's really no point... Just download the images as you watch them... That takes like 5 seconds of your life...per picture...
And do you really want to download the whole gallery? Not all the pictures are worth saving...
@everyone else: I bet 2 images that mrose will never return to the forums after his question is answered...

actually, if you're downloading image from gallery, as it load it's downloading. When you actually -download-, it's downloaded off cache/temporary internet folder.
Only exception to this is those big ones where there's separate link for 'em
So your idea is quite useless, sorry to say

Actually an interesting idea, but I doubt it'll be implemented. At least not anytime soon unless artefact decides to do it.
Anyway, there are ways to download all the pics in a gallery. Right now, I use downthemall with firefox. It's simple and efficient.
There are other tools too. I may post the other options you have at your disposal later. Most require that you view the page with firefox though.

thats true, but you're assuming 1- i can even dig around this school mandated mac of mine, and 2- everyone is slightly tech savy.

i could do that, but seeing as how i can't drag and drop the high quality ones, i'd have to view image in a new tab and save or drag and drop. it actually takes about 10 seconds. a big gallery will contain at least 100-140 images. thats about 20-22 mins. now between school work, practice, running a self published zine, and stargate, i really don't have much time.
also, its much easier to pick out the ones you don't want than dling all the ones you want manually. and seeing how the internet in my dorms is super slow, and i timed the dl with a small image i already viewed (as foolydooly said, its already on my comp, therefore it will show up instantaneously), it'll prolly take about 40 min to go thru the gallery, assuming it takes another 10 sec (at best) to load the image.

If you click "save link as" in FF you get the image with one two clicks.
I don't discourage DTA usage, but when everyone uses it to grab every image on a page indiscriminately it does create a bandwidth usage scenario which is unmanageable - everyone trying to download everything at once creates a huge spike, which slows the site down.
Of course, the easy solution is to not post galleries, or post them with smaller or fewer images - not exactly desirable...

just out of curiosity and sorry for sounding stupid, but why can't we just upgrade server speed?

you can always find them on danbooru or moe.imouto, those 2 have more bandwith so it loads and downloads faster

It automatically downloads the full size version on the page. However, if you want the full 2mb picture on the channel, then you'd have to go there to get it. Gallery images are slightly resized.

I can't download the thumb pic as a real pic..but I'm not having problem when download at e-moe and konachan..
anyone know the way to download at chan.sankakucomplex? or the adjustment for my DownThemAll.
