That anime was pure, solid win.
I never finished watching it! xD
Well I kind of did....I got to episode 10 and lost interest when I found out I'd have to wait for a conclusion in a few years. :/

Sometimes companies decide to dub the insert songs
and sometimes they don't
The reason adv didn't dub the songs in nadesico was because the original footage was made to sync w/ the seiyuu's voice. The same was done w/ Haruhi at the concert. Yet bandai went ahead and dubbed it. So in the end, it just depends on the company.
Okay, so what about the dubs of Haruhi or Lucky Star?
I think these are well done and actually prefer them to subs.
@Draken: Good call on eden of the east op.
@Ridley: I just wanna point out that the hare hare yukai video you posted before is a fandub. But I agree that god knows wasn't done justice.
As far as the whole subs vs. dubs thing, the case is usually that people prefer the one they hear first. I have to admit that most of the time, japanese sounds superior. But there are also good dubs like FMP, cowboy bebop, and like taiga said, the lucky star and haruhi dubs were done pretty well. I love me my aya hirano but bandai did a good job w/ the dub.

Yeah. There are plenty of anime openings and endings that do sound good in English. Tank! from Cowboy Bebop sounds fantastic. Full metal panic was okay, I suppose. I don't know about Lucky Star, I haven't watched the opening or ending dubbed yet, and I may not want to. Konata and Kagami voices may be more accurate, but Miyuki and Tsukasa just don't fit well in the English version. The Japanese sound more accurate and have a more high-pitched voice so they have better results when it comes to voice acting and singing. =]

I think so too. Surprised me at first when they went for Oasis in an anime OP.
I think we all share this view. It's funny because at first i didn't like it then as i watched the series more i was like OMBFG this is great.

English = Fail
Japanese = win
In the end, it depends on how the song is sung or how the singer sings that fits in well with the song. Utada hikaru can sing pretty good in English when Simple and Clean or Sanctuary was dubbed
Another good example of this IMO is the opening to Rental magica both in english and japanese same music & singer different lyrics worked GREAT.
First song is Sora ni Saku the second is Faith both sung by Lisa Komine.
the "dont say lazy" fan dubs were acually good...compare it to every other dub and its godly...original is still my favorite

Ever heard Don't say lazy in german dub? D;
Not bad...I'd add in some "Whip Cracks" and screaming. Maybe some expressionist dancing- lol.

Best fucking OP of that season imo. God it was so kewl. "We live a dying dream...I tried to talk to God to no avail...if you can't save me please don't waste my time".
Yeeeesh...It's so 'depressing' and abysmal. I'm suprised Obama didn't steal and try to make it the Socialist States of America's anthem,
Yes, visually it's stunning but based on the song - I'd slit my wrist before it was over. This show's a 'Depression' (or shall we say "Melodrama") Anime about the Rich vrs Poor right? Sorry - but based on the song I don't even want to watch it now.
