   I think it's time for a refresh of the category logos you see at the top of each of the main pages. This time, I thought it might be interesting to see what users submit, so I'd like to invite you to provide what you think would be appropriate, good looking images.

   It probably won't be desirable or possible to include all submissions, so I'll select the nicest for us, employing such aesthetic sensibilities as I possess. I won't insist on this, but rather than everyone pile in on the "anime" logo, perhaps you would be kind enough to submit one each of "anime", "manga", "games", "H", and "Japan".

   Image specifications: the logo must be 80x80, and a 90% quality normal jpg. I recommend Irfanview for rapid custom thumbnail creation.

   Double points if you include the original (we might later want to change their size or otherwise after all) - if you crop something out of an amazing image people will ask after, please do upload it to the Channel or here.

   Strange.. forum got img { background-color: black; } or something?

   GAAAH forum software does something with the image... if you click the download link below it does actually have a transparent background..

   Not sure what you mean CC,it doesn't have good contrast at that size on the brown background? Also, I already have all manner of vectors for the logo, so modifying it is easy.

   The black background is due to PHP's image library using black as default - not sure if it can be changed.

    Tried to make it a little diverse. As for other categories, I've got a couple ideas that will have to wait until after work tomorrow.

    

    Edit: excluding games screenshots, i uploaded sauces to the chan. A few of them were already on there, heh.

    If it's using PHP's build in library instead of imagemagick, sure.. just needs to use the functions with 'alpha' postfixed.

    say, imagecolorallocatealpha instead of imagecolorallocate and imagesavealpha of course.
    (That's the kind of thing why I called the board 'primitive' before ;))

    If it looks bad with the background, just add a white border around it, or some kind of halo or such? Plain white square hurts my eyes, it's like watching PNG's with alpha transparency in internet explorer <7 :(

    What about adding a descriptive text to the logo images?
    It can be helpful for viewers to know the picture's source on the spot, when something they are not familiar with yet comes up.

    I'm talking about the "alt" text, to be included with the description already showing up - "Display only posts about..."

    An example with 1st post's menu screencap:

    Pictures with no apparent source like the schoolgirl, may have some free text of any kind, or lack any at all.

    Some help with naming could come up too, I suppose. But that's a problem for when the idea is accepted.

    If we're going into details, it should be in the title attribute, as the alt text for purely decorative images should be set to nothing. (decorative since the link is described below it)

    Personally I'd say screw the curious and let them ask on the forums as the images are just there as 'symbols' not to provide info about the characters life story.
