Love all of these, but I don't know if the OP will like them.
My brother loved Soukyuu no Fafner, but I never got around to watch it cuz of the character designs (reminded me too much of Gundam Seed/Destiny), I know there's some mechs, not sure if there's monsters or gore, since I haven't watched it.

You are watching dubbed???
Blasphemy!
I don't like listening to the original Japanese versions. Everyone sounds the same T_T I also like watching the show, not the subs >_>; I'll check out all the rest when I get the time =]
The more subbed anime you watch the less you watch the subs ;)
And if there is anything that sounds the same it's dubs, as it's the same damn ppl 99% of the time.. and nearly all of them suck. Only dub that might not be total crap is Gantz.. or at least for the 5 mins I watched it dubbed.
At least all us dub haters can laugh about this
"The English adaptation initially starred Jessica Calvello, with Larissa Wolcott taking over the role after episode thirteen after Calvello had damaged her voice during production."
Talking as fast as excel isn't easy.. results in physical damage!
Redlonders suggestions are all void of what you're looking for with the exception of Aquarion.
Mmmh let's toss in VanDread as a suggestion.

I think the only dubs that I can ever stand is like Cantonese dubs, saw a few animes back when I visited Hong Kong a little while ago. I just say no to english dubs, don't even bother with giving it a chance, lol.

Haha, yah... the chinese (both mandarin and cantonese) dubs aren't too bad, but still can't compare with Japanese voice...
@G107 - ... lol idk, I think you haven't really watched a lot of anime then... haha man, the English voice is like <<<<<< (extremely inferior compared to) Japanese voice.
They use a lot of the same voice actors (like CC said)... lol like the well-known Brock-from-pokemon-being-the-same-as-kaiba-from-yugioh. They like lack voice actors or something = ="... and not only that, the only ones available SUCK. Their voices lack the expression so much, it sounds like they are trying to read a book to a kid. Watching it is like rape to my sense of hearing, with the addition to the violation and degradation of my IQ through the way they speak. The English voice actors think that their audience is a bunch of elementary school kids or something...
Also, Japanese seiyuus sound a lot better. They can modify their voice a lot. Plus, they are speaking Japanese =P... in Japanese, it's a lot easier to have different expressions by changing one's type of speech and choice of words. Also, it's better to receive the material in its original medium, isn't it? ^^
Neways, yes, it's true that you will be focusing a lot on the subs in the beginning, but then after a while, you will get to know a lot of vocabulary, so you won't be reading the subs all the time. Not only do you get to watch and listen to better stuff, you can also learn a little bit of Japanese along the way.
Bottom-line: Subs >>>>>>> Dubs.
