  1. Aside from the industry group self-censoring and the minori fiasco with banning gaijin IPs, did the Diet actually have the chance to pass or change any laws relating to eroge, hentai, anime, or loli, before they dissolved?

Since the DPJ looks set to win (hopefully, maybe not after this tax thing), what was their position on all of this? Were they pro-censorship or anti?

Nope. As far as I understand it, they were debating the details of the ban on "simple possession" - that is, of real/3D child pornography. They were unable to come to an agreement on acceptable penalties, I think. As far as how that relates to drawn/animated fictional material, that depends entirely on how "CP" is defined. The Diet previously decided to postpone making any formal decision regarding such material, however, there's no telling what effect increased pressure from the concerned groups (in favor of censorship) could potentially have to change that.

Which is precisely why we must stand up and fight!

Quoting from the summary to my timeline: Generally speaking, the ruling party (Liberal Democratic Party) and their coalition partner, the New Komeito Party, have led the push for increased regulations, while the opposition party (Democratic Party of Japan) and the Social Democratic Party have voiced concerns over the civil liberties at stake under the proposed legislative reforms.

I am sure if some of them wouldn't exist, Japan would have been already turned in a femnazi kingdom.

....i don't think that is a good idea, after all they are the 1 who keep the society running

Is funny that now you have to worry about politicians of another country hoping that they don't ban your hobby.

  8. I have an excuse, I'm a Political Science major :-p

But yeah, it's actually kind of exciting (to me at least) that power might finally change hands for once over there. Having one party rule for over half a century nearly uninterruptedly isn't healthy for a democracy...
