I see some where your going with the "Being 2nd is really the first Loser"- but it's more of a 'ranking system'. For example In the Olympics if you're ranked 2nd or 3rd in the world (or a country or region, ect) it's an indication that You are 'One of the Best'- because when you get to the level of 'The Best'- it's mere percentage points and degrees separating 1st from 3rd usually. On another day 3rd could do better than 1st. Maybe 5th ranked has a exceptional day pulls an upset. Mimi's being consistantly ranked '2nd' or '3rd' means she's often pulls out all the stops. In another region or state or country maybe she'd always be first? - I can see why she feels 'discriminated' against in comp but in the end there is "One" winner.
If I was Mimi I would look into composing or consulting & playing for Japanese Anime- she can speak the language and loves the medium. If she can literally play anything she hears with 'Perfect Pitch' after hearing it once- that's an incredible skill. I have 'Perfect Pitch' with singing and I have near flawless rhythm. My Music teacher in High School hated me cause I had 'perfect pitch' and was able to learn music after hearing it once- which led me to goof around while she tried to teach her 'Favorites'. My Sister is also very talented in music.
