~ My Dethly *heart* perks!
~ *just* what is this vampyres name sake? ~ I *may --- NO! - need to- add her to the Deth Family.... she'll fit right in!
(edit) ~
Ahhh found it... yep, she's claimed...
...Whoa.
Saw this at the comic shop I frequent, while looking for more volumes of Ray (by the same mangaka of Eat-man). Didn't think it was any good at first, from reading the hokey description 7Seas put on the cover.
Didn't know it was this badass, and now an anime adaption? Nice.
I think I'll pick up a volume or two and give it a readthrough. Thanks for the heads up.

I saw it and bought it without looking at the description. The cover was enough to tell me it was instant win.
I wish at the moment we had a clearer idea of who was going to be doing this anime specifically.
I hope it's someone good.
Never heard of this manga and I still can't see what all the ruckus is over.

It wouldn't matter. It would look the same since all anime is the same.

She can be your ancestor Deth seeing as shes hundreds of years old.
With a name like Mina Tepes, it would make no sense if she were over 140 or so. 'Tepes' is the family name of Vlad the Impaler, the man who became the popular figure 'Count Dracula'. 'Mina' would be Mina Harker, the woman who was bitten by Dracula in the novel and who the protagonists struggled to save. It all happened in...1887 or so, and I think she was in her twenties around the time of the novel, so it would be impossible for Mina Harker to be over 140. Changing shapes is something vampires do, so the loli body makes sense.
Times like these, I wish I didn't know this sort of thing so I could read it and be entertained, rather than be unable to enjoy it because it doesn't fit what I've already accepted as a solid part of vampire mythology.
Seeing that manga scene.Means this will be an awesome anime show I cant wait to see and watch.

I don't remember hearing that Mina was exactly hundreds of years old.
All I remember was it implying that she was fairly old.
And actually, how does that story go against the Vampire Bund storyline at all?
I assume believing the mythology doesn't assume that Vlad himself was the first Vampire, which would mean that Vampire Bund doesn't go against the Vampire Mythology, either.
But either way, Anime likes to play with Mythology a lot. Odin Sphere isn't exactly very canonical with Odin. The Mina here could have merely been inspired by the Mina Harker you speak of, and it altogether supposed to represent a different Mina.
It could be that she's related to Vlad's side of the family, long down the line. But not Mina Harker. Also, Bram Stoker is not the be all end all of the mythology, he's just a person who helped popularize and modernize the mythology. Dance in the Vampire Bund holds no need to stay true to Stoker material.
I do believe that once in the...middle section of where the manga currently is, right around the transfer to the Bund(hope that doesn't count as spoiler), she mentions Stoker's said famous novel. And she claims that some things in it are right, and some things are wrong.
Oh btw, it appears that Anime News Network has announced it as well, now.

The fate of Dance in the Vampire Bund is sealed to be a good anime indeed.
It's being done by SHAFT!

Brace for win. This is gonna be something to look forward to.
Can't believe that SHAFT are going to waste money and Shinbou's talent with such a goth-lolicon crap. As if Moonphase, Negima or Maria Holic weren't enough. -__-

You've read the manga right? You're not just trying to insult something you've never read right?
A great manga, being done by a great studio.
Seems fitting to me.
There wasn't a manga more deserving to get the shaft.

Have you even read the manga?
