What do you mean..? If you are talking about them becoming democratic.. it is a proven fact as countries get richer, they become more democratic..
If you are talking about enough resources.. China has more than enough resources I believe.. unless I am mistaken..
p.s. I think we have been talking too much about politics and etc recently... or maybe its just me >_>..
Schrobby is right. The Communists in China will keep the people as slaves workers; they will do everything in their power to retain it.

Well, facts are facts. You want evidence for China gaining knowlegde? Look at them copy everything.Actually the the Chinese government has recently raised their efforts to cracking down on counterfeit goods.. due to pressures from oversea groups.. For example the IIPPF.. which is a group that was established to allow Japanese companies to crack down on the counterfeiting of their goods overseas.. Now if they provide sufficient evidence, ~_~... the Chinese government is forced to destroy the counterfeit goods.. of course the companies get no compensation.. ~_~.. but the Chinese economy will suffer in the long-term due to the waste of resources..
Furthermore...
'Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.'
While China is wasting time stealing source code/pirating goods/producing counterfeit goods.. America and other countries are creating/producing/providing new and more innovative goods and services.. What China attempts to counterfeit will be totally obsolete.. Even if China is currently experiencing a rapid growth in the technological sector.. the counterfeiting of goods is only inhibiting potential progress in the long-term..

You want evidence for the rapidly growing chinese economy? You can find that somewhere on the page you linked to.
Oh, and about the US economy: It went down. Hard. Evidence can be found just about everywhere. This is why I call you a fool ~_~.. and why I believe you got your information from the media and rumors..
Problems with the Chinese economy
I wonder where to start.. with the problems that have appeared due to China's rapidly growing economy.. or the false mirage you get of what is currently happening in the Chinese economy.. mainly due to the media...
Problems with the rapidly growing Chinese economy...
If you understand the basics of economics you should know that when economic growth is normally a good thing.. it leads to an increase in employment, increase in the standard of living, improves a consumer/investors confidence in the economy.. etc..
However at high levels it can be unsustainable.. and many external and social costs can appear.. the obvious one should be pollution ~ I hope I don't need to remind you how much China has damaged their environment due to pollution.. ~ http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2009/06/07/chinas-beautiful-beaches/ ~ for example..
At high levels of economic growth.. the efficiency of the usage raw-materials and labor can be damaged.. All I really need to say is China quality for that..
- high energy consumption - is also another cost of China's explosive
growth.. - The sad thing is if I am not mistaken.. China has the
possibly the largest potential in producing energy via hydro power..and.. the benefits of growth between income groups and regions may be uneven leading to an increase in relative poverty. Income inequalities may widen.. - All I really need to say this time.. is the inequality between Chinese citizens who live in rural areas and in cities..
China in recent years has also over invested in the manufacture and production industry ~ ignoring health and other services.. - I hope I do not need to explain why this is a problem.. it should be common sense..
False image of what is currently going on in the Chinese economy during this Global Downturn...
I am partly guessing that you got the majority of your 'USA is going down, but China is still going up' crap from the economic growth figures from the last quarter.. i.e. the figure 7.9 varies..
People tend to look at the figure 7.9%.. and think ah.. look it seems China has already rebounded from their recession.. following the also quarter in which China's economy grew at its lowest rate in about a decade.. it seems China is still growing at a fast rate etc..
and.. sure even to me at first it sounds great.. but if you actually look in-depth you can see something totally different happening..
China as I stated is the factory of the world.. If I remember correctly close to 65% of its GDP is from exports to consumers/companies overseas..
unfortunately however the US and Europe are both currently in a recession.. and sadly China and many other countries centered on exports like Japan, South Korea and Taiwan will suffer the most...
Now that the average consumer in the US/Europe has less to spend, or is worried about their financial situation.. their demand for goods and services should and has dropped dramatically..
Now obviously the drop in demand for goods will affect export centered economies.. and China being the country that exports the most will understandably be affected the most..
You could say that.. the 5-month old fiscal stimulating economic package.. of US$586 billion could work.. but if you looked closely the majority of it was already committed aid, however China has totaled it together to make it look far more impressive.. not that there is anything wrong with that of course.. RET.. I guess..
- I am not sure whether the package is working.. truthfully..
stimulation of the economy usually takes at least two to three
quarters before their impact is felt... so I am will not make
any comments..The chinese workforce is also suffering like the majority of the world..
The average cost of labor has risen by above 70%.. during the last 3 years.. which will and has lead to a large compression in profit margins.. This + the decrease in demand for goods.. will cause the majority of factories in China to be forced to shut down.. or they will require subsidies from the fiscal package.. but will it be possible to keep that from happening just with subsidies.. ~_~..In fact.. over the last year or so.. it is estimated that over 20 million rural migrants who were attracted to coastal cities due to potential work have been forced to return to their homes.. the same is happening throughout China..
basically it would take a miracle for China to not to be injured by the global downturn...
'The only thing we learn from history is that we do not learn.'
During the late 1990s the tiger economies went through a similar state..
Furthermore..
'According to Citigroup, China’s real GDP contracted 0.3% on an annualized basis in the fourth quarter from the third quarter — the first fall in at least 16 years. Morgan Stanley estimates China’s GDP fell 0.5% for the same period on a seasonally adjusted, annualized basis.
Goldman Sachs estimates that China’s economy grew 2.6% in the October-December period from the July-September quarter. The OECD puts the quarter-on-quarter growth for the same period at 0.3%. –J.R. Wu'
~_~.. basically the figures shown by the Chinese.. are doubtful.. and many disagree with them..
Why the US economy has not and will not go down 'Hard'
While on the other hand.. if you look at this ..
http://www.businessweek.com/debateroom/archives/2009/07/recession_econo.html - It shows you the pros and cons..
Even if the 'con' situation happens.. - The US economy should be back on track within 1-3 years.. My estimation was 2-3 years..
However the global downturn might actually be a good thing..
From now and onwards.. The US and EU financial sectors has/will have learn a great deal over the past few year..
Some of the manufacturing will be brought back to the US to which will lead to an increase in jobs.. and they will rely less on imports.. i.e. leakages..
China on the other hand.. who knows.. ~_~.. I would have written more.. but even if I love economics.. I do have other things to do...
Posted 6 years ago # -
I would have carried on to talk about competition..
about how china's growth will be cut short.. or at least maimed..
about china's 7.9% compared to 10% + growth figures.. etc..

No way. The regime will never give up power, if it isn't forced. If a sizable portion of the populace has to stay dumb and poor for them to rule, they will stay dumb and poor.Blitz said:

Yeah.. ~_~..
It isn't surprising that communism is popular in China.. but if something like that happened.. automatic revolution.. ~_~..
