Your Figure Reviews...

  1. Deth said:
    Thats ~ already a given!

I'm one of the (few) who are extremely devoted to his waifu...

But, reviewing the (actual) presence of my waifu within the home of Deth? Its a must do...

    How could I not? - o.O

    I'll have you know that the only reason I don't have a figure of mai waifu, Nono, is because the two or three that exist sold out years ago! The closet I can get is my unloved giant robo, Dix-Neuf. I don't think he's ever sold out once, or sold since I got him. ;_;

Thats a accepted reason (of course)...

I hate when that happens, when you wait (because of no funds) and when you finally have them.. its OOP!

Thats what happened with the Taiga figure I sooo wanted.

~ and (this) particular one is now going for (close) $300 on ebay.

    (note)~

The reason I wanted this one, is because she is the exact depiction of my first (irl) wife, who passed away.

I was shocked when I saw the animé, because she (Taiga) was "dead-on" in character, appearance, and body structure...

    Yea, I thought so too...

She should have been holding the Japanese saw or nokogiri (鋸?) used in woodworking and Japanese carpentry.

That should have been an added accessory... however, I still love this figure...

In my case, it's that there's relatively low demand for the figs, so they don't even bother. Besides the two normal Nono figures I missed my chance to buy, there's the Wonderfest exclusive Nono figma and a Nono/Noriko fig that came with the limited edition of the Gunbuster VS Diebuster GATTAI movie. I never had a chance, so I guess I'll sit here with my Dix-Neuf and wish there was at least a Lal'c to sit beside him.

I am (trying) to find a replacement Taiga figure... but (none) have captured my attention (nor) are saying "Buy me" .. its THAT particular one that is...

I (may) purchase her... some time soon (before) she gets too expensive... however, I am waiting and hoping that it will be cheaper somewhere...

No WORRIES!! ~ besides, how would you (or anyone) else know?

Taiga is an Animated image that - "reminded me" - of my 1st (irl) wife (that's all)...

    I know the difference!

This is what I appreciate about animé, it can soo move you in soo many ways...

Can bring - *manly tears* - to tough guys.... bring rivers of expression, excitement, horror, suspense, and tense moments, which are *just* as good ~ IF NOT BETTER ~ than a Summer blockbuster movie.

Its good that an animé, brought back GOOD memoires... and that's always appreciated!

Now that the drama has been respectfully released... lets continue with (other) figure reviews....

Now that you mention it i also prefer the eyes in those two, especialy the second one. I like the first one, but something doesn't seem right with her hair on her forehead. Her shirt looks oddly dirty too for some reason. So i think I'll look into this one a bit further...

I have a question about figures that i've been wondering for a while...Why are figures always have flat colors and not a more glossy finish? It seems like it should be all shiny 'n stuff considering thats how they look in the anime.

They try not to make them glossy because gloss just makes figures look BAD, unless they're a mech/machine or something... like having drossel with a shiny finish is okay, but having shana with a shiny finish is HELL.

It's terrible to look at, it's horrible to attempt to get decent pictures of (koto high gloss, anyone? ... that skin KILLS me ), and it's just bad all around.

You'll find that some of the cheaper figures (or older ones, like older kotobukiya and sega figures especially ) will have glossy skin/clothes/everything else, and the newer nicer ones have a decent finish. The eyes are still glossy more often than not, but it's easier to work around than the skin and everything being like that.

Just because it looks good in 2D, doesn't mean it rolls over into 3D really well... or at all.
