Haruhi...

I got to the seventh episode, and just couldn't handle it any longer. It was a mess, it was confusing, and I stopped caring.

You are not suppose to watch the first season according to broadcast order. You are suppose to watch it according to haruhi/chronological order: 2, 3, 5, 10, 13, 14, 4, 7, 6, 8, 1, 12, 11, 9. The second airing has been in haruhi/chronological order.

I'm sure I saw you on /a/ not so long ago. Also there is already an endless eight thread.

And it is old and dead. Might as well start something new and fresh. Stop with the "But we already have it" troll. It is tactless but more importantly annoying. The only thing as annoying is the necromancy troll.

i recommend you the novel. it gets better too. on the 7th~8th volume 3 new girl characters are introduced. one of which is kyon's very close friend in like grade 7 or 8. there's also a loli. i'm not gonna spoil the rest.

And his old friend Sasaki is the "other Haruhi" type entity. Of course she has her own posse of a similar composition though she isn't completely clueless like Haruhi. She also doesn't have closed space temper tantrums.

I agree with all that is said in the above statement... and it covers what I feel about it.
Many have complained about it - *just being a copy/paste affair* - but it wasn't, however, I *just* held my tongue concerning opinion.

I guess, people just continually want a Quaker Oats resolution, meaning a an "Instant one" ~ its what people are so used to now-a-days.

People want a developing story with character developments. The cornerstone of any story or drama is a beginning or exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, then resolution or denouement. You must have seen Freytag's pyramid many times in junior highschool, highschool, and college English literature courses. The animators in their infinite wisdom have decided to throw this pyramid to the curb which is the cornerstone of good drama and decided to flatline the series. No one wants to see a boring flat line drama that goes no where. Though you say you do but I don't believe you are enjoying it as a story but more like the way one would enjoy a painting or statue. You marvel at the detail and craftsmanship of the painting or sculpture and these aspects elicit certain feelings of awe and amazement. Though it lacks certain other kinds of interest that are perhaps deeper if it was to get off its pedestal and sprint down the street. Even when we look at a painting or sculpture we think beyond it in terms of a narrative. The human mind thinks in narratives and that is what humans find the most captivating.

  2. Kyon-kun is so indecisive and naive ~_~..

I tried to watch episode 5.. but it was so depressing...

Although when Kyon finally acts, it will probably be a good episode..

  3. However, to Haruhi's credit, the first few episodes of season 1 was great in the sense that it managed to bring the impossible into an everyday high school student's life. Think of you know, the all too well known schoolboy who used to be imaginative and had all kinds of hopes and ideals, but gets jaded by the dull routine of life.

That sounds like the story of my life, and I suspect, is the same for many of the older members of this site.

Then in comes a tsundere schoolgirl who is not only hot and displays yuri/bi-sexual tendencies, but also has all sorts of crazy ideas, brings the guy on all sorts of crazy adventures, and to top it off, is a goddess.

I know, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is a great anime. This endless eight is makes haruhi look bad. the only good thing I seen in endless eight is that yuki show a little more emotion and personality then usual. Don't judge this great anime just by watching endless eight wath the 1st season 1st.

  7. A topic for this already exists...

I wish the forum subsections were above the recent topics list.

    ---

But anyway, asides from that I've been really enjoying Endless Eight at the moment for some reason, each episode is just a nice relaxing runthrough with some delicious swimsuits, being able to hear Haruhi say "Shimin Puru" each episode is really cute too.

Not to mention, some Endless Eights are really well produced.

After I finished season 1 I thought the story was generic, plot is out of whack.

Also, I only got hooked to this franchise because:
    (1) the silly Hare Yukai closing sequence and character designs and
    (2) animation techniques they used that really makes Kyoto Animation standout from the rest to me.

    I will disagree with you.

I AM enjoying this story arc greatly... its a story... it may not follow the usual pyramid effects, but still its a story, granted an off kiltered one, and that is enough to stimulate this mind.

Stimulation varies with each - "eye of the beholder" - as you well know..

What is plain and boring for one, is exciting and alluring for another, and I fall into that cata where I see things completely different from (what) the normal person does.

I look beyond the typical and appreciate the concept, art/design/whatever subject it may be and enjoy it fully.

~ and if it gets my imagination going, stimulates the thought process in - "what ifs" - possibilities, then its added kudos to the creator for doing so.

Many are just experiencing the Endless 8 as the usual response to something that seems endless and appears to have no sense and is boring.

But, if you look at all that has been *given* to the viewer (thus far), then one can see all the hidden, well planned, easter-eggs that are right in front of the eyes and mind.

Its like a Rorschach test... individual see what they see, because it's not really a wrong answer, because even the explained answer is just a Possible interpretation of the given answer.
