How does it feel to have one of the best franchises in japanese media degraded into low-quality money-hungry uninteresting shit?

  2. I feel like I just don't care anymore, to be honest. :P KyoAni turned a likable series into an endless disaster.

  3. Honestly, I never liked the anime to begin with.
The manga is okay...ish. It's readable, but nowhere near the best.

At least I know I'm not the only one.

I've been meaning to watch it but I'm just so behind on all the anime that is currently airing and it doesn't help that I procrastinate often or that I'm easily distracted.

I got to the seventh episode, and just couldn't handle it any longer. It was a mess, it was confusing, and I stopped caring.
The only reason I know the manga is better than the anime is because I keep getting free volumes as they come out, seeing as Yen Press keeps sending my store advanced copies of them and I'm the only person that likes manga there.

Are you kidding me? Free manga? You bastard i have to pay ten who dollars (plus a six cent tax) for a single volume and sometimes even 11 dollars (plus a six cent tax).

  10. I really liked it when I saw it and a year later, I decided to stop caring and devote all of my "NEXT SEASON FUCKING WHERE" into Pani Poni Dash and Rozen Maiden.

I watched the first two episodes of this season, found out the rest of it was going to be Endless Eight, and decided this isn't season two.

I'm sure I saw you on /a/ not so long ago. Also there is already an endless eight thread.

Manga has been getting more expensive, too.
Tokyopop raised their prices a few months ago and now they use cheapass see-through paper; Viz raised their prices a dollar or so, depending on which manga you read of theirs; Blu went up ... two dollars, I think? (probably because they're part of TP)... etc etc.

And yes, I work at a bookstore. We rarely ever get advanced copies of manga, but when we do, I snatch them. This also means though, that I get a discount on all the manga I buy, which is why I have so much of it. =P

Do you work full time there?

Technically I don't, but my manager basically gives me nearly full time hours anyways. She's just never sure how many hours she'll get from week to week, and it seems like the part time people are better off than full time people right now, since two of my managers have been laid off in the past year, and one of the full time employees (which there are few of to begin with). I'll have been working there for three years on Sept. 15th. x3

You're lucky, I can't even get a part time job.

Yeah, I'm really lucky so far. Even getting it to begin with was luck, since no-one else wanted to hire me - it's my first job, lol. Tons of people are getting laid off around here, I think it's one of the worst regions in the country to look for jobs, and it's just.. pretty bad. I hope the economy picks up soon here, because I don't want to see it continue to spiral.

I'm just hoping at this point that my boyfriend will be able to find a job when he graduates from college. He'll be going into accounting, so hopefully there'll be something good open.. or anything really.

Disappointed...it really is just summed up in that one word.

  19. has anyone read the novel though?
the manga doesn't cover all the plot, and the drawing is a bit below standard.
the anime is undeniably successful in several experimental elements in the first season. most remarkably would be the live performance of god knows, the illustration of the show is among the best music animes imo, eg. beck, macross 7. another worth mentioning success in haruhi season one is episode 0, illustration of the adventure of asahina mikuru movie. Also, the mixed up arrangement of the episodes without spoiling the plot through the way is not an easy task. haruhi anime deserves some credits.

haruhi anime is full of meta-concepts. it aims for goals that the novels cannot achieve. Endless 8 was never repeated once in the novel, like only 30 pages and its through. but endless 8 anime is not really about kyon and haruhi's relationship, its more like an attempt to understand nagato, what its like to be witnessing the same shit over and over, and hence gain viewers sympathy. the message is "watching it 8 times in 2 months may get you frustrated, imagine yuki watching it 15xxx times over 5xx years", some sort.

is kyoani really ripping off? i doubt. none of the scenes in those 8 episodes were directy copy-and-paste, they're redrawn anyways, costing them the same. save the effort on plot? the script is the novel and the novel can feed more than 6~8 seasons. the seiyuu lines were never the same in those 8 episodes anyways (maybe for kyon's sis).

i recommend you the novel. it gets better too. on the 7th~8th volume 3 new girl characters are introduced. one of which is kyon's very close friend in like grade 7 or 8. there's also a loli. i'm not gonna spoil the rest.

I guess I am the rare one with a soul to hurt...

I am (still) enjoying the series thus far... I dunno... I'm finding some interesting things in each Ep as it goes along.

I agree with all that is said in the above statement... and it covers what I feel about it.
Many have complained about it - *just being a copy/paste affair* - but it wasn't, however, I *just* held my tongue concerning opinion.

I guess, people just continually want a Quaker Oats resolution, meaning a an "Instant one" ~ its what people are so used to now-a-days.

    (edit) ~

If the series "fails" in the end... then it does... like I have been saying throughout all this ...

What has been decided HAS BEEN decided and there's no turning back now

I have been watching the series for actually the characters, story, and the artwork.. as I am keen on such things.

The 2nd season has been enjoyable (thus far) and I can feel for Yuki concerning the time loop

So, I am hanging in there until the resolution, and if I am the only one that remains... calm and unaffected by the effects.

    well... let it be then.
