    To answer this question you really have to can morals. Morals change all the time anyway. As a good example, the old greek were fucking little kids in their bath houses. Still history books tell us they've been a great culture.

    Back on topic.

    Abusing children, producing and selling child porn should be punished. HARD. Harming children for fun and to make money is repulsive.

    Possession should be free of charge. Why? Quite simply, it does no harm. The porn already exists, nothing can be gained by jailing the one who has it.

    Considering one of the examples at the start of the thread, child porn is material with abused children in it. Naked bathing or kids masturbating (I once read they start doing that at about 5) is no abuse. Drawn and rendered stuff is definitely no abuse.

    It was posted child porn may get people to rape children. Maybe, maybe it prevents rape because watching is enough. Be as it might, owning it does no harm. If watching child porn makes one a child rapist, then watching CSI makes one a killer. Ever heard of casual TV fans getting jailed?

    Police should go after the ones creating and selling child porn and stop wasting time going after the ones owning it. Maybe if they act this way they can actually jail the ones who really deserve it. It's the only way to stop new child porn getting made. Alas, it's hard work jailing the rapists and distributors. Going after owners is quite easy and gives them the false feeling to have "achieved" something.
