   As the 2014 FIFA World Cup approaches (about 2 and a half weeks), I decided I'd like to talk about it and hear from others.

   I may have mentioned at some point, that I don't care for sports on tv, or to attend them. Except for the World Cup.

   Se lets talk about it (those who also enjoy it), what teams are you rooting for? do you think its rigged? whats the socio-economic impact it has on its host country? should it be moved to a permanent location?

   Fire away bitches!

   Note: The mods may close this thread after the World Cup ends, right after Netherlands and Germany finish up the final game.

   Mexico as per usual gets eliminated in the 8ths, by a shit African team, or by the USA because their fingers will remain forever jammed up Mexico's butt.

   first, second, same difference. Without Beckham they couldn't do shit. Which was a disappointment because England always puts on a good show and plays awesomely.

    I love that Japan picked Pikachu as their mascot for this world cup, so I too want them to advance and perhaps win (that and my otakuness compels me to).

    Croatia, I think its funny how many people hate it, and I've heard many many comments that they did not deserve 3rd place in 98, and since then they basically don't deserve to play or win any match :/

    Sturridge, Sterling, Henderson, Barkley, Shaw, Lallana, etc

    If any American team would win (read, buy the cup) it would be Colombia or Mexico. Mexico because it sells tickets (the only reason its always there, really) and it may be its time.

    and Colombia has been a good american team thorught.

    Uruguay should win, they are really fucking good.

    Do you not know how used to it we are?

    Thinking we'll be humiliated by not winning is like thinking char will be humiliated when someone points out his hypocrisy.

    Actually, expectations are so low this year that it's basically impossible for us to be disappointed. Anything better than third-place in our group will be a national victory.

    As long as we don't lose to Costa Rica...
