Did Google ban loli?

I just realized that searching for loli has barely any results, especially relevant ones on Google for me for a while now.

I checked it, SafeSearch isn't accidentally enabled, still nothing for "loli", "lolisex" and similar comes up what would/should normally do. I tested it and "milf" or "hentai" still has the usual results, but just try to search for "hentai loli" and due to the loli word the results are once again censored. The total search results is less than 20k, and basically all of those are mostly unrelated garbage, or law enforcement articles.

Heck, try to search for "sankaku loli" and you won't get direct links to Sankaku Complex either.

So, why I post here? Because I am unsure what the reason for this could be. First of all I hare Google already for dominating the browser "market" on the net and usually use Duckduckgo, also avoiding that silly Google email/whatever account what they try to push down your throat even when you want to use YouTube. Sadly I can't always totally ignore Google simply because its almost omnipotent presence everywhere.

So one reason for this search outcome could be that Google somehow messed with the browser to ignore SafeSearch settings unless you are logged into such an account, I recall something like that is what they did when Google blocked a lot of features (like your own PM box) on YouTube, then demanded you to have such a google account to even be able to post on youtube.

The other possibility is that somehow through google only my nation started to block loli, which would surprise me a lot as I am in an European nation where as far I know loli isn't illegal at all.

So please, help me fellow Sankaku citizens to find the reason behind this. Even if suddenly my nation started to block loli I would like to know to prepare for unannounced legal changes. Also wondering what could be done if Google really just blocked everything loli related that isn't about that Russian book, because I am pretty damn sure such a block would be illegal almost everywhere.

well, to be honest I was a bit too busy in the past 2-3 months with my work in 2 different nations, and I already have a few bookmarked pages I usually visit so its slower to notice stuff like this, but last time I directly browsed Google there was no such problem with the results.

I meant loli porn related, see what kind of links show up, or what images there are are. You get the normal sex stuff for hentai but nothing for loli,... well, not on my search results at least.

    o.O

Well, something like that. As mentioned in my first post nothing relevant among the results as far I can see, just censored garbage.

Well aren't you salty (and wrong).

And the point is: 42 million results to his 20k. (400k for "hentai loli".)

I just looked a bit around, noticed this on All the Fallen:

    thread created on
    12-21-2013, 12:22 AM

    Google has made loli illegal
Google has recently expanded their CP restrictions to lolicon, and site after site is removed from their search feature.
    ---
in case ya'll don't already know, make sure that your google search history isn't being logged and archived to your gmail address! Found that hidden setting one day along with a year's worth of pretty outrageous google searches from me >_<
    ---
While I by no means am -happy- that google has taken the option to search for lolicon (spelled as such) away, I do respect their right to do so. Private companies are in no way obligated to show other people's private content. Both Google and 'Yahoo!' both started out with websites paying them directly to be listed. If they decide that they don't want to feature certain kinds of content, it is fully within their legal right to do so.

Basically as I see it the guys on that site aren't entirely correct, as not just "Lolicon" but "Loli" itself got on the word blacklist. Doesn't Google follow USA rules, and uses that usually as excuse for messing with how browser results appear, wouldn't this mean the US now bans loli too? Or was this purely a decision by the company itself?

Also, based on this thread I found it seems the changes happened a bit before Christmas 2013, so barely a bit more than a month ago. Maybe Google even expanded their blocked word list since then and at that time only "lolicon" was filtered and later added "loli" to it and possibly more.

hm, well the results if you look at the image were for "Lolisex", and the first result that I got was someone using "loli sex" as a character name for the MMO League of Legends...

Filtered results for it just as by the images.

To be honest, I doubt there is still something that isn't used as an NSA spybot, but as I said loli is not banned in my nation, so did we reach the point where not a few nations ban something and browsing is still easy on it, but the other way around and now the browser bans words while most nations don't consider it illegal? I really have to wonder about the legality of this unless suddenly loli got banned where Google HQ is located. (which I think is in the USA)

  14. It's not a ban. They are free to omit search results as they see fit. But that's not to say it isn't stepping on net neutrality grounds.

Is there still any browser around at all that doesn't filter out results but lists the outcome somehow logically? I do use Duckduckgo... but to be honest as I see it its just a huge mess of results with no logic behind the listing that comes out as result. (and I assume it still does some level of filtering)

Ages ago I used Altavista, now it seems as during the years since then 2-3 mega-companies began to either buy up all competitors or drive them bankrupt. Google being the main culprit at this.

Damn I just looked through the 3-4 pages of results for "sankaku loli" and not even a single of those links actually direct anywhere on sankakucomplex.com, although the results do reference it on some stories.

Yes, I can read. Nevertheless, the answer to your question is still no.

  19. Images still shows loli's though, just can't find videos of lolis anymore. Images aren't really filtered, but the text search is.

Hm, actually the answer kinda is "Yes, Google did." as I see it due to the heavy filtering. This will also make it harder to look up new or translated loli game releases, and loli art, et cetera.
