Just USSR promoted atheism, and many Muslims were in fact atheists. When the Soviet Union collapsed, the borders were opened. A modern radical youth began to read literature from Saudi Arabia. Many imams working in Russia were trained in Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia.

Maybe the US should have nuked Saudi Arabia back in the 1970s for that oil embargo.

That or use the neutron bomb on them once it was invented.

I do believe the region would be better if we just allowed the Soviets to take Afghanistan vs do everything short of invading our selves to make the Soviet Afghan war turn into their Vietnam war.

Yeah maybe but now drugs only are sent from Afnanistan. And so it is very far from the Caucasus. The big Influence in the Caucasus is from rich Arab countries and Turkey.

By the way Saudi Arabia is the best partner of the United States. They only use equipment of USA and officers are trained in the United States.

Yes they should unless the system has been highjacked and there's no need to highjack it either.

  13. There are bad members of other religions but they're generally as a rule no where near as fucked up as fundamentalist Muslims.
I knew right off it was not a right wing christian group, militia, or even a Una bomber type.
They tend to attack a specific target ie abortion clinics, politicians,or something else they perceive as an evil vs try and cause random mass death and injury.

  17. Federal investigators are hurrying to review a visit that one of the suspected bombers made to Chechnya and Dagestan, predominantly Muslim republics in the north Caucasus region of Russia. Both have active militant separatist movements. Members of Congress expressed concern about the F.B.I.’s handling of a request from Russia before the trip to examine the man’s possible links to extremist groups in the region.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who died early Friday after a shootout with the police in Watertown, Mass., spent six months in Dagestan in 2012, and analysts said that sojourn might have marked a crucial step in his alleged path toward the bombings.
