The pitfalls of not differentiating Associates and Bachelors...
a 2 year community college is the least what everyone should go for. Only carrying high school degree puts you in severe disadvantage in the job market
Dude - this is sooo True. I've got interns that now WALK into higher end State school after transferring from Community Colleges.
One guy was a former gas attendant who just smoked weed all day - He made so little money that he got grants & stuff (because his parents couldn't claim him cause he lived on his own)
He got lower than 600 on his SAT's (so he says) guy doesn't even know Algebra! YET- He got A's & B's in community college & walked into a State School - he interned as part of his Advertising & Graphic Design requirement?
He always had the same Hoodie on & was like a Zen monk. He asked MY supervisor to transfer him to another group because the college kids he was forced to work with were TOO Stupid & Complained about every task they were given. I sat in on a discussion about how we need to "control our interns" as I used to have them assemble my kits & materials before I got own accounts.
This guy was NOT a silver spoon kid but he was a fighter. He relished the new challenges. He said he used to smoke weed to forget the world he was forced to live in - He got a job to pay for the weed & live on his own - which led him to discover his own path, values, & goals. He then GOT INSPIRED to be MORE than just a 'That Guy'.
Now he designs websites - probably still smokes weed but it's on HIS Terms!- lol. He looked like "Occupy" but he was smart guy, he knew how to market himself and what he was worth. The moment some snotty rich kids closed in on him- He used the "power structure" of the job to prove his worth FIX His 'Station'- He went from "victim" to "In Control" of his situation in 1 afternoon...and this was guy whose only mission in life was to escape his parents, play video games, & smoke weed.
Victims vrs People who Take Responsibility for their Situation!!
